whats the difference between a testpipe and a midpipe?

A testpipe replaces the catalytic converter on our cars. One end of it connects to the exhaust manifold (header), while the other end connects to the midpipe.

The midpipe is the middle section of the exhaust hence the name. One end connects to the end of the testpipe or catalytic converter and the other end of it connects to the muffler.
