the ep3 is the only true matte flat painted car on this page
the rest are all eggshell/satin, you cannot clearcoat a flat paintjob and have it still be flat, even if the clear is flat because you're creating a clear layer on the paint for light to refract inside of, creating some shine.

This is the 300Cinister show car form '07 SEMA. Its actually more of a satin dark gray. The red and silver accents really set it off.

Maybe if it had some sort of "misti-chrome" final spray to give it a hint of flair, otherwise the high contrast accents are deffinately needed.

I personally LOVE the flat black Skunk2 EP, its SO hot...but i've done flat black before, its a bitch to wash in the sun because it dries so much faster...make sure u only wash 1 body panel at a time and rinse right away! I let my g/f have somewhat of a say on my EP but on my old EF i just did it, it was stealthy, some guys said it looked like primer, but even had thumbs up from the hot rodders lol...heres a pic

Tremclad through a sprayer with my compressor.

    During Paint.

Paint Didnt Stick To My VW Lip So Well

The only problem I had, was that probly 5 people in my town copied me afterward lol, but they just used spray cans and it looked bad

I like flat black elements, not the whole car done as flat black.

BASF has really revolutionized the matte color though. Their polyester paint bases are easy to apply, dry quickly and with their matte clears can be washed just like normal paint.

I have some nasty rock chips on my hood and rather than a CF one, I was thinking of doing the center of my hood with flat matte black from BASF, along with some lip elements.

I agree with that. That would be cool to see.

If you do decide to go with flat black, I would strongly suggest that you spray it with a spray gun, not cans. Otherwise you are going to be able to see all of the spray marks and imperfectios.

I like the satin skunk2 for sure. Any matte color is showy imo. But if you're ok with the attention, its pretty baller.

I think flat black is a really neat look however, not every car can pull it off.

I really like to see cars painted in creative colors (not fast and the furious colors)
I really like this color if it was matte

dont know whos ep that is but its sickkkk :)

PS. Most "girlfriends/wifes" will never understand color schemes, or visual modifications that are out of the ordinary. That, and the prices of JDM parts
    Yea thts a sexy color!!

I used to like flat black but not anymore, now i like glossy jet black.

flat black on an exotic car = acceptable

flat black on a Honda = looks like you cant afford a paint job or are a ricer

Satin black on the other hand is a bit better than flat but even then id stay away.

    Just my .02 cents

Satin Black.... A++++ and super sexy!

UPDATE: I figgured out what Im going to start with for my visual mods and this is a good thread to bounce it off people.

    • Hood, center Satin matte Black with the headlight ridges stock SSM
    • Mugen Grill in Satin matte Black
    • Mugen wing, with sides and base SSM, and the duckbill Satin matte Black
    • Rear Bumper, under-ridge Satin matte Black
