    DIY: Garage Door Lip Install

Got this done tonight. It took about 2hrs from start to finish, which includes removing and re-installing the bumper.

Pics of the product as requested. (Comes in a plastic bag for $14.99 or so CDN)

First, remove the bumper. There are DIY's around on how to do that. 5 minute job.

Once you have the bumper off, find a good location to work on it. Get some tape and use it to mask off the place you want to install the trim. This will give you a line to work along when you are installing the double sided tape.

Once the double sided tape is installed, begin installing the trim. Align the crease of the trim with the edge of the double sided tape. You can achieve a pretty nice line if you are careful.

I did something a bit different than most other installs I have seen. Instead of using screws to give the lip extra hold, I used black zip ties. I drilled holes along the bottom of the trim through the bumper and ran the zip ties through. They snug up great and seem to cover more area than screws.

Here's a pic of the finished product.

Here's a pic on the car. I'll get some more when it's not dark out.

    Lip in action!
