    Driving while missing a nut

    I'm missing a nut.

Earlier today I was doing some maintenance on the EP. Changed pulgs and oil. In order to change the plugs I had to pull off the Neuspeed strut tower bar. In the process one of the nuts on top of the struts got missing. I found a replacement at Home Depot but it large enough that the socket needed to tighten it is too large to fit.

I have the part numbers for the nut, but can I drive the car while missing one out of six nuts (three per side) that hold the strut top in place? I'm just talking about mild street driving here, nothing on any sort of track.

with the weight/pressure going up, the third nut isn't vital. you know enough to not abuse it, so I'd say you are safe. some of the kids around here, I wouldn't advise them to even move the car.

I agree, you'll be fine for a while. I was missing one of those nuts for 1-2 months last spring before I realized it...

You should be fine as long as you dont go hammering on it. Any Honda stealership should have the proper flanged nuts in stock.

I would just periodically check the other two to make sure they are still tight and you should be fine!!

Actually already got another one this morning. There are advantages to having friends that are Honda Techs that do a lot of side work. Buddy of mine has jugs full of spare nuts and bolts, and he actually had the correct nut.

Hmmmm that sounds kind of funny, my buddy had the right nut for me.:tehehe:
