    Unhappy CAN I RUN K24A4 OIL PUMP?? k24a4 swap

    Im going to be swpng in 2002 ep3.. do i have to swap oil pumps..?
    or can i leave the a4 on and run it like that..im runing kpro...
    if i do have to swap oil pumps.. i have to mate it with matching oil pan right..?
    like stock a3 pump with stock a3 oil pan..and will the a3 oil pan bolt right up the the a4 block..?

    You can use the a4 pump and pan.... Its worthless though.

    There is absolutely no issues with running the stock A4 at all. Unless you plan on swapping on a A2 head and internals looking for high rpm's.

    The A4 pump IS NOT WORTHLESS by any stretch of the imagination. The A4 pump is basically the same as the K20A3's pump, all of the K24's and the K20A3 in the EP3 use the same stamped steel oil pan. The K20A2 pump requires the cast aluminum pan. You can install the A2 pump and pan, but vibrations and low idle oil pressure will arise.

    Why the vibrations and idle? How about using the k24a1 oil pan with a2 pump, any problems? Isn't the rsx a3 pump the same as the a2?

    The A2 pump does not have balance shafts, thusly the vibes. The A2 pump can use the steel pan, but can cause the inlet to the pump to seal against the steel pan due to a different location of the pickup's. The A2 pump is meant for higher RPm's and even on the A2 shows lower oil pressures at idle(not a good thing if you EVER install cam's). Yes the base RSX has the same pump as the typeS.

    can you run the stock tranny on the k24a4? i found a nice k24a4 for $450 and i dont want to purchase another tranny if i dont have to

    The stock trans works even better with a K24A4 than with the original K20A3

    noob question; how about oil pressure at idle on an oem vtec killer setup? Does it still cause problems?

    I would run the A2 pump with the Vtec killer setup as the idle will naturally be higher, a nice lopey idle.

    One of the guys up here just built a base RSX with a K20A2 shortblock w/K24A1 head running PRC cam's w/clearanced exhaust rockers. It really sounded nice, a mean, lopey, nasty sounding idle. Not bad for a collection of junkyard parts.

    How much hp did they make?
    For the idle thingy, u said it will pose problems with cams, but with stage 2 cams, don't the idle have to go up higher as well, thus acting like the vtec killer? What's clearanced rockers? Shaved rockers?
