    Rims. Size and offsets?

Im debating on some rims. i like the Rota Gt3s (and all similar designs).

im thinking i would like to polish them, but thats not the issue.

i found a 17 inch version made by DRAG from discount tire. i wouldnt mind 17s, but im not sure about the offset. they dont come up on a search for Si wheels. i found them looking for wheels for the base RSX. 17x7 40RM 5x114.3 is all it says in the details... RM im guessing is for RED MACHINED... Will they fit? Recommended Tire?

Or should i stick with Rota's? Stay on 16s? Whats the best size + offset? Or atleast the most common to be run on what size of tire? ive looked around- the only people who post the much detailed info have crazy offsets on slammed cars with rolled fenders... or maybe im not looking hard enough

Im most likely will never hit the track. Roads are decent where im at. im not worried about 17s being too heavy really, stock wheels are 24lbs i read. I do plan on some lowering springs later(nothing too crazy).

im open minded to Slips (finished or polished), Circuit 10s (finished)

    advice please

Unless your going to get some HP stay 16's. 24lbs + tires means close to or over 50lbs a wheel. That's 200lbs unsprung mass. That's going to kill the a3. There will be little performace difference on a DD between 16's and 17's. But the tire cost difference is HUGE. Good luck.

stocks are 24lb. not sure about the Rota's.

i plan on a few bolt ons down the road. I/E for sure. again, nothing crazy. But i do see your point. i dont need any extra wieght, and lighter wheels will only help.

    thanks for your input.

are stock wheels really 24 lbs? i think most rotas are lighter than that... i've looked some up on wheel weights, forgot the exact website, but it listed a bunch of 17" rotas as 20 lbs or lighter, some being 21 or 22. so technically if you were to get 17s, it wouldn't make much difference compared to stock wheels, right?

To me 16" wheels looks the best on our car. The only problem is that, there isnt much tire selection if you go beyond 205s. I think 205 is TOO narrow for the heavy ep3. The next common size is 225/50/16 but that tire looks pretty tall and too meaty, Which means its gonna be heavier , so there isnt any weight saving... If only there are more brand selection for 225/45/16, or 215/50/16 , etc more brands equals cheaper prices and stuffs IMO

As for 17" i think its TOO big for the ep3. BUT there are LOADS of tire selections and most are low pros. I like low pros because they dont add that much weight to the wheels and the 225 up size seem to be cheaper! for example 235/40/17 i found a set of all season tires by hankook for 240 a SET of four!! I think thats soo cheap. THere are alot more performance tires for 17s also (correct me if im wrong) . The lighter the wheels, the more acceleration and best of all, you save gas LOL .

SO in conclusion, if you think 205 are too narrow for your car and dont want to have such a tall sidewalls and save on weights (Assuming the wheel choice is a light one...........) , i would say go with 17s.

If you think 205 is fine and like to slam it (and assuming you think 16s look best ) then go with 16s. (slipsstream would be my choice here)

Yes , the 04-05 ep3 has same bolts pattern as the rsx (02-06). They are 5x114.3 in case you cant find it. The type s wheels will fit nicely on your ep3
