Using discount tire direct's program for finding a plus sized wheel/tire combination, it says that a 16" wheel can go on tires
205/50-16
205/55-16
215/50-16
Now, forgive my ignorance, but doesn't a 205/50-16 have a smaller diameter than a 205/55??
I thought the point of the plus sizing scheme was to increase the size of your wheel while keeping your tire's diameter the same to get a lower profile and better handling.... ??

use 205/50/16 or 215/45/16 thatll get you closest to the stock wheel size.
