6.5's fit using a speaker spacer
Just for everyone's information the factory note says that 6 1/2 speakers will fit in rear and in the door but really only 5 1/4 fit in the door and 6 1/2 in the back. i bought 2 pairs of Fosgate power series 6 1/2 and had to drill the door holes much bigger. The window barely clears the magnet but it will work. Thought i would give everyone a heads up just incase=]
best buy crutchfield or any audio install shop should have them. Some people make their own
^^ thats exactly what i did , I made an adaptor for my front speakers using 3/4 MDF
- remember to dynamat the fuck out of it
you can't really fit those fronts properly without spacers. i have 6 1/2 front and back. the fitment is kinda tight but they fit. too thick spacers can cause issues too as i found out when installing the rears. dynamat or similar is definitely a must if you ain't diggin rattles, apply plenty while you are at it.
I ran deep ass 7's in mine for a long time!

Yeah honda's fronts seem to hit the window if there not used with spacers, I ran into this problem with my 01 civic, I thought it was funny though, cause I bought shallow mount speakers, and still had to use like 1 inch of spacers lol
Spacers pull the WHOLE thing out so looking at the geometry of the rear of a speaker, and the geometry of the door card you will quickly realize that you can move the speaker forward and down in mounting and squeeze a larger driver in there. I always swore I wanted to try 8's in there, but they beam too early and I don't want to cross my tweets that low.

yeah i should have been more clear i know 6 and 1/2 fit i also used spacers i just ment their much wider than the actual hole.
I was going to jump in and say 6.5"s fit fine, but then I rememberd that I did have to trim the opening, LOL it has been so long ago,,,,,,I used a similar placement as what Chad mentioned above, I placed the cutout guide against the existing opening at the 10oclock position and arranged the guide forwards and down, marked and cut to fit the speaker(the scrap piece has a crescent moon appearance).

I tryed some pioneer PRS speakers in mine.. To big speaker construction/magnet and to deep, even with a lot of spacer. Got 10-5mm left before it hits the window, and it hits the door card.. And the spacer ebnd up beeing too dep, witch stops air travel thru the spacer..
30mm spacer..
Going to try Tang Band W6-1139, they are cheap(60$) and they got a rather slim construction compared to the pioneers :) Just need to to some measurments before buy them. But if i know myself right, i end up rebuilding the doorcards next spring. Been thinking about how to do it and not ruin everything for a year or so now :P so a plan is beginning to take shape in my head :P
this is the picture that gave me the idea..
