don't forget, the 04/05 front windshield is also needed. the 02/03 rearview AND windshield are different from the 04/05

the one for the new fit, the 07 fit is the same as the dc5 which mount to the roof not the glass.

well yea, the base is different. as far as i know the part that holds the rear mirror assembly onto the windshield is not available separately from the dealership. the 04/05 mirror assembly is more of a female attachment and the 02/03 is more of a male attachment on the mirror end.

Been investigating and I can get the part number for the 03 mirror but not the 05??..... and by looking in the part lists, I think you might be right sadly..... I'll look into it a bit more tommorrow. I would think there would have to be a replacement base incase it was broke off, that would suck to replace an entire windshield for a clip.

yea, let me know if you find anything. IMHO, 02/03 owners do have the sturdier mirror. i think there's a possibility that the base might be a universal part you can get at like a pepboys, autozone, etc.

here's another 'FU' from honda. besides not being able to use the mugen mirror cover on an 02/03. if you happen to somehow break or lose your rearview mirror assembly, 02/03 owners will have to shell out $60-$85 for a new one. 04/05 owners will have to pay $12-$16

just as usedep3 said no workie:( ....base clip is only with windshield, and they will not interchange, and another person (stoop, who tried to put his extra 03 mirror on his 05) said the 03 mirror was better in his opinion also...... damnit! Thanks for the heads up usedep3, just had to physically verify on my own, but you were right in all points :(

attachment point on the 02/03 mirror assembly side looks like this:

it's a male connection. therefore the windshield need to have a female connection to hold the mirror securely.
its the opposite for the 04/05 mirror assembly. the attachment point on the arm of the 04/05 mirror is a female connection. so the windshield needs a male counterpart. here's a pic of how the 04/05 looks like:

yeah, i went through this ordeal when i got my 04 ep. i called stoop and confirmed all this with him also. i really REALLY wanted an 02/03 rearview mirror again.
