In 2002, the Civic Si received a complete redesign and returned to form as a hatchback. The body shape of this model was based on the "New Bullet-Form" concept, which aimed to create a more dynamic look and provide greater stability while traveling on highways or winding country roads. The interior layout also distinguished itself from other Civic Si generations with a dash-mounted shifter. Based on a platform manufactured at the Swindon plant in England, the hatchback was launched around the world in many different trims, most notably as the Civic Type R in Europe and Japan.

Shifting away from the B-series engine, the seventh generation Civic Si adopted the K-series K20A3 engine rated 160 bhp (120 kW) at 6500 rpm and 132 ft·lbf (179 N·m) at 5000 rpm. With a redline of 6,800 rpm, the Si distanced itself from the narrow, high-rpm powerband engine of its predecessor, and as a result saw a 20 percent increase in torque. Performance was relatively underwhelming compared to the competition; the switch to MacPherson struts from double-wishbone suspension resulted in less responsive handling, and a near-150 lb (68 kg) increase in weight to 2,744 lb (1,245 kg) contributed to slower acceleration than the lighter '99-'00 Si. Much of the weight gain is attributed to the chassis' stouter structure when compared to the previous generation hatchback, with the '02 Si boasting an increase in torsional rigidity by 95 percent and a bending rigidity increase of 22 percent.

With the increased chassis rigidity compensating for weight gain, the 5th-generation Civic Si saw roughly the same performance numbers as the previous generation Si, with 7.6 seconds to 60 mph and 15.8 seconds at the quarter mile. Other factors adversely impacting performance included the lack of an LSD (limited slip differential) and having to shift into third gear to get to 60. First gear ends at about 30, second ends at 55, and third ends at 82 mph (132 km/h).

The 2004–05 models received minor revisions. Cosmetic changes included revised headlight (dual bulb setup) and taillight designs, standard side skirts, and an option for a HFP. The suspension was updated with a change from 4 lug to 5 lug bolt pattern, a larger rear sway bar, and a change from 15-inch wheels (195/60-15) to 16-inch wheels (205/55-16). The interior received more silver accents in place of the chrome ones (the lock switch).

The Honda chassis code for the Si and Type-S models is EP3. In Canada it was referred to as the Honda Civic SiR.

HFP (Honda Factory Performance) Lip Kit:
The HFP lip kit was offered in 2003 for the USDM Honda Civic Si. The HFP lip kit will fit any USDM EP.

The only reason I believe Honda says the HFP kit is INTENDED for 2003+ is because of the available HFP kit colors. The HFP kit only comes in VBP, SSM, TW and NHBP. As we all know EY (and MR) was only available in 02, therefore not making the HFP kit a 'direct fit'. If you buy the kit new, everything that's needed will be included whether you have an 02, 03, 04 or an 05.

This is just my opinion, but i believe 03's have it the best. The HFP side skirts does not reuse the holes on the 04/05 rocker panel.
The kit will come with the necessary brackets/double-sided tape to hold the sideskirt. This is why not having the holes there in the first place is more beneficial. No holes = no Honda rust

    2001-2003 'pre-facelift' CTR EP3:
    Key exterior differences:
    -OEM 4.3k HID reflector-type headlights.
    -17" 5 Lug (5x114.3) wheels by Enkei
-Taillights. Similar to 02/03 USDM tailight except the brake and turn signal location is different. Also, turn signal area/lens is pinkish
    -Red 'H's front and back
-Pre-facelift CTR front bumper w/ CTR front lip. Commonly referred to as the 02/03 CTR bumper. The front bumper is shorter than the stock USDM bumper.
    -A USDM/CDM EP3 Si/SiR will need an OEM EP3R-spec front bumper/reinforcement bar ('rebar') and a modified rear bumper/reinforcement bar ('rebar'). **NOTE: OEM EP3R-spec rear bumper/reinforcement bar ('rebar') is not a direct 'bolt-on' affair onto a USDM/CDM EP3 Si/SiR.**
-Front bumper does NOT have amber bumper lights.
    -Factory Sideskirts
-CTR rear bumper w/ CTR rear lip. CTR rear bumper/lip is the same from 2001-2006. The rear bumper is also shorter than the stock USDM bumper
-Rear bumper does NOT have red bumper lights.
-CTR wing (spoiler). This wing can be modified to fit the USDM EP3. Modification of the CTR wing is necessary because the rear hatch glass is different on the CTR compared to the USDM EP3. Most members will use an HFP wing.
-JDM CTR did not have sidemarkers on fender. When people refer to JDM sidemarkers they are referring to the sidemarkers found on the DC5 ITR
-Pre-facelift JDM CTR sideview mirrors are power folding.
-JDM CTR had a UKDM flag emblem in front of the civic emblem found on the hatch. The flag is a credit to the CTR being built at Honda's Swindon Factory in England.
    - FULL Championship White (CW) was only available for the JDM market
    -2003 30th Anniversary Edition '30AE' EP3 CTR:
The 30th anniversary is a more exclusive CTR. Only a 100 were built for each of the following colors: Red, Silver and Black. This was only available in the pre-facelift CTRs. The 30AE and 'regular' CTR differ from each in the following way:
**Red Carpets & Special Edition Recaro Sport Topline seats
    **Rear tinted windows
**30AE sticker beneath the rear wiper
    **Momo steering Wheel

    2004-2006 'facelift' CTR EP3:
    Key exterior differences:
    -OEM 4.3k HID projector headlights.
-17" 5 Lug (5x114.3) wheels. Supposedly Enkei stopped making the wheels for some facelift models. The gunmetal version of these wheels is a slightly different shade and a hair heavier.
-Taillights. Similar to 04/05 USDM tailight except the brake and turn signal location is different. Also the amber lens found in the USDM turn signal area is now the red brake light.
-Red 'H's front and back. Front grill is 2 piece (actual grill and upper trim piece). Front H is also larger than that found on the pre-facelift grill.
-Facelift CTR front bumper w/ CTR front lip. Commonly referred to as the 04/05 CTR bumper.

-CTR wing (spoiler). This wing can be modified to fit the USDM EP3. Modification of the CTR wing is necessary because the rear hatch glass is different on the CTR compared to the USDM EP3. Most members will use an HFP wing.
-Non-JDM Facelift CTRs did not have sidemarkers on fender. The turn signal was integrated into the sideview mirror.
-JDM Facelift CTRs have sidemarkers on fender. JDM CTR sideview mirrors are power folding.
-JDM CTR had a UKDM flag emblem in front of the civic emblem found on the hatch.
-FULL Championship White (CW) was only available for the JDM market
    -Premier/Final Edition EP3 CTR:
The Premier and Final Edition CTR's were produced as the run out model for the EDM EP3 CTR. Some of the parts destined for the Japanese market that were left over from a lack of sales in Japan. They were addeded to facelift CTRs to try and sell the last ones before the new model CTR (FN2) was released. This was only available in the facelift CTRs. The Premier/Final Edition and 'regular' facelift CTR differ from each in the following way:
    **Red Carpets
    **Red/Black Recaro seats
    **Rear tinted windows
    **Momo steering Wheel

    SEMA Honda Civic Si Concept:
Below you will find information & pictures of the SEMA Honda Civic Si Concept. The car seen below is a concept piece and parts from that car were not made available to the public. Looking at the pictures below its easy to see where/how the HFP lip kit design comes from.

there is one or two (cant remember) brackets under the car that hold the skirts on. i was just paranoid.

    pipe strap
    nut w/nylon insert, washer, bolt
    touch up paint.

cut a small piece of pipe strap. bent it. painted it. painted the bolts. drilled holes in the body and side skirt. bolted everything up.

i know the sticky clips have come off in some places as i have accidentally kicked them while getting out of the car. i have piece of mind that the skirts aren't going to fall off and drag on the freeway.

    FAQ's

-Q: Will a CTR wing fit my USDM EP3?
-A: Yes, the CTR wing will fit your car. But to make it sit flush, some minor modifications are needed. The outside mounting loactions on the wing must be shaved down so that the wing can sit flush against the USDM hatchglass.
Due to North American safety regulations the rear hatch glass is different between the USDM EP3 and the CTR. If you look at the CTR hatch below, you will see notches in the glass not found in our rear windows:

This is where the spoiler needs to be shaved (circled in red):

If you don't want to shave the spoiler down, you have 2 options:
    1) Buy a mad jDm y0 authentic CTR trunk
    2) Buy the HFP spoiler. It's essentially a CTR spoiler that's been modified by Honda to fit our USDM EP3s. The majority of EPhatchers with the CTR-style wing will go this route. OEM fitment FTW

here's a link that might help you better understand what's going on. apparently some replica CTR wings are in fact replica CTR wings. i.e. some don't fit without the above mentioned modifications

**NOTE: Replacement P/N for OEM HFP LED strip: 34270-S30-A01. This LED strip will NOT bolt directly into any aftermarket 'non-Honda' CTR replica wing. Not the CF nor the fiberglass. ONLY HFP and authentic CTR

    _________________________________________

-Q: What are the differences between the Authentic an Depo Replica CTR projectors?
-A: They are basically the same headlight. The main difference is the honeycomb pattern of the turn signal area in the headlight cover/lens. The Replica projector will have a clear turn signal area. See pics below:

    Authentic CTR:

    Replica (Depo):

So, I know what you're thinking, can't we just swapp the honey comb pattern from the 04/05 USDM headlight and be that much closer to OEM CTR projectors? NOPE! sorry.. The honey comb lenses are different between USDM and CTR. See pic below:

    04/05 OEM USDM:

There is good news though, parts from the CTR projector will actually bolt right into the Depo and vice-versa (i.e. TSX projectors).. Why TSX projectors? for that sexy 'proper' HID cutoff. The Depo headlight will come with a Halogen projector/reflector bowl. The cutoff he cutoff will look like this:

    LHD Halogen Cutoff:

    LHD HID Cutoff:

Here's the link to a helpful thread about Depo Replica Projector Headlight.

    _________________________________________

-Q: Is there a difference between 02/03 and 04/05 USDM front grill? Honda Shows 2 part numbers.
-A: Yes, there are 2 different grills. Why? I don't know. But here's a link explaining the differences.

That NHBP facelift EP2 front end is GORGEOUS.
I think HFP sides would flow well with the lines of the lip just like the 04/05 mugen lip.
You should include the difference b/w the hfp sides and the ctr sides too.

I have found or have most of that info. I plan on adding FAQ's, DIYs, list of what's 'needed' to install any non USDM bumper including part numbers, and anything and everything related to OEM exterior modifications.

One pic i can't seem to find right now is the pic of a EP3 with a full CTR exterior conversion parked in front of a stock USDM. The pic showed the difference in length of the CTR bumpers compared stock USDM. haven't seen the picture in a long while. hopefully someone has it saved

2 quick things. 1. EY came as a optional colour in Canada aswell for the 02 year. There are at least 3 EY EPs in my area that are labeled as an SIR.
    2. Theres also another european model known as a civic sport. It came with a K20A3 in it. It was pretty much a european version of a north american SI/SIR. Only majour difference between it and a type-r is that they have the word "sport" written on the side skirt, and they came with black coloured door handels and trunk latch handle.

This is an example of one, minus the sport stickers on the side. I talked to the owner when I was in finland and he said he just wanted it to look like a type-r.

EDIT: Also, an option in some countries (more so northern european/scandinavia) they had optional headlight sprayers (like on the 04/05's)
