    Tensioner question

I'm about to do a stage 2 cam upgrade including a valve job. I was intending to do a hybrid racing tensioner originally. After long wait for the part, I was told by my shop that the some of most recent HR tensioners failed and that they rather recommend brand new OEM tensioners. Now, I don't do hardcore/professional racing, but with the new cams, I am planning on reving the engine up to its limit frequently, until I get used to it. My question is, did any one hear similar issue with HR tensioner recently or in the past? Also, would OEM tensioner hold up to extra spirited driving? Thanks for your inputs in advance.

The Hybrid tensioners are just fine, they had an issue when first released with the latch not being properly hardened, but that was fixed with their contractor and all currently available tensioners have the proper parts.

But you should be fine with a stockie and just stage2 cams.

The stronger tensioners are intended for the big builds with big cams that put alot of stress on the tensioner.

The New Skunk2 unit is supposed to be very good as well.

My thought is if your in there, might as well address it. Just for peace of mind.
