Question denso ik20 vs ik24 spark plugs?

just couple of months ago i've acquired 2004 civic sir.
then i've just received 4 free new denso ik24 spark plugs,
and it just so happens that i am about to go for a tune-up/maintenance.
    now it has 120k+ km.
my engine is stock with aem intake, and have the air flow system done.
On the manual, it originally uses ik20.
    so now the question is...
is it ok to use denso ik24 instead of the suggested colder stock ik20 spark plugs on my stock engined 2004 civic sir?
are there gonna be issues, or problems down the road?
these are worth about $13CAN+tax a piece, so if i can get away using these FREE ik24 spark plugs why not, right? but if not then ik20 it is.

this is a novice question, and im pretty sure there already a thread somewhere about this,
but i just can't seem to find it. you can help by redirecting me to it.

i'm hoping to get an answer soon, because my appointment is on wednesday (nov 3, '10).
in addition i also received free skunk2 lower arm bar,
free new stop-tech rotors and pads for my front & rear.

sell ik24s to someone running turbo or SC, take money from sale and buy ik20s. From a quick google search, running colder plugs may lead to premature spark plug fouling

The IK24's are colder plugs than the A3's stock IK20's, Do not run them in the a3 without forced induction.

Run them as they are gapped out of the box, dont mess with them at all.

Just to add to this why you shouldn't use the plugs.

A Plugs heat rating is not how "Hot" the plug fires. The rating is basicly talking about how much Heat the plug pulls out of the combustion chamber and transfers into the cylinder head. Hotter plugs don't transfer as much heat, leaving the combustion chamber hotter then a colder plug will. Power wise you want the combustion chamber nice and hot, But too hot might cause pre-ignition resulting in engine failure. So a motor like the k20a2 which has a higher compression ratio (11:1) requires a colder plug then the EP's k20a3 (9.8:1) because the more you compress the air the more heat is released. Adding a really cold plug like a 24 to a lower compression motor like the k20a3 will result in poor combustion. This means power loss, and economony loss. Honda has assigned the correct plug to deal with the temps created by each motor.

    k20a3 = Denso IK20's or NKG 6's
    K20a2 = Denso IK22's or NKG 7's

    heres' another question.
for $40 full tank of silver gas from shell i run about 375km(city) - 400km(long driving).
    how bad is this?

what else can i do to improve this?
i might as well ask for a compression check on wednesday.

wow thanks! i guess i had it backwards.
6 and below are hotter, 7 and up are colder best for forced induction engines?
which means i need to stick with ik20's

    thank you so much!

How much gas is that $40 buying you? I get about 425-450km per 45 litres of gas in summer. It drops alot in the winter.

I have a k24a2 but didn't notice much change in mileage from my k20a3

Ok guys, ivve gone out in search for the stock ngk spark plugs and ive gone through 5 stores and they DO NOT carry these plugs that i am looking for.
anyways, i gave up and just went to the honda dealers and found myself paying $104.00+ for 4 plugs. kinda pricey.
but yey... so now i'll try to see how much difference in mileage i should get...
but i do notice the change in the way it feels when i am driving. much smoother...
but then again, its gotten colder since winter is coming.

on top of that, ive changed my cabin filter. and holy shit, i am glad to have done it.
got my oil change done, and have added stf fuel injector cleaner.
and ive also exchanged my rotors and pads. stop-tech. i hope this is any good.
although, no more scraping or screeching brakes. which, i am really happy about.
apparently, i already have a lower arm bar installed. im not sure what kind... i couldnt see any name on it.
so now i have a spare skunk2 lower arm bar given to me for free...
hmm... would you guys recommend this product?

anyways, in terms of maintenance/tuning, what else should i do next?

    Ahhh man, 104$ ! ! !

Any of the autoparts stores will have Iridium plugs that would fit, you will not find the plugs if you used the complete size code for stock plugs supplied by Honda, they use a code specific to Honda supplied plugs. Or you could have ordered the from sparkplugs.com for well under half that price.

NEVER go to a local Honda Stealership to buy parts unless you have a inside guy who gives you the parts at cost.

Pull the ECU/FI fuse in the underhood fusebox for a minute, then do a idle relearn. It is still using stored data from shot plugs.
