    My Trans Finally blew...

    Hello All...

    So my Trans finally blew up... Not kool

    I scrabbled and was able to find a k20a2 *04* Trans with Clutch Flywheel and Trans *Obviously* for $850

    this all happened within an hour

    Trans blows

    I call up my buddy to store my car there

    I find trans

    Find funding

    Make the plan


    So today We're ripping it apart from my Convo's with Mary Doug and Golan it should be straight forward...

    Im still not positive about this Notching thing *Doug* btw

    Once I have the EP Apart I guess I'll understand more


    So this thread was made just in case I run into any issues while im under the car

    any Advise is more then welcome...

    Word I know... but hes not very local... Hes in AC is he not?

    Plus I have the Engine hoist and all the tools need

    Air tank is full waiting for carnage

    Nope, he is in Browns Mills, about an hour from Philly....

    at this point I have Traffic about to kill me

    I Drop it into 4th *The only gear Which wasn't tough to throw into* and put putted my way back to my job up the road

    K so its going back together... I didnt need to Notch the Shifter All gears shift smooth it seems...

    I just need to remember that its a 6 speed now... *Stupid Shift Knob*

    All I have left is getting the Control arms back on wheels and well drive it...

    My Pass Side Motor Mount was destroyed...

    Lets just Say we got a little crafty... Golan and Mary saw the pix....

    Sorry guys I can't Post those it looks pretty hacked right now but ill paint the new mount and post it another day...

    It was honestly a moment of genius on our part

    If we didnt run into so many issues we would of finished already but re-engineering something Honda built was def tough



    OKAY so I retract my Statement I do need to Notch... it doesnt want to go into Reverse now...

    Doug I hate to be a pain but we can't figure out how to get the damn thing out... what needs to be done?

    Yeaaaaa I have a problem listening sometimes


    My buddy called it quits told me to do it... He can't get the linkage off the shifter assembly

    Cool

    I'm the buddy that put this thing back together today. Here were a few issues I had:

    The motor mounts (all 4) were shot, the driver's side wasn't even connected anymore. I had to recreate the mount using hockeypucks, a motor mount bolt from a Nissan Maxima, and a Home depot washer and nut.

    The Passenger's side axle didn't want to come out of the hub, so we pulled the hub with the axle attached, and reinstalled in the same way.

    Both sway bar endlinks were rusted to shit, the caps ended up coming off, I had to put them back together with high strength adhesive.

    The car didn't want to shift into reverse for some reason. Then I opened up the console, and could not for the life of me get the cables undone from the bottom of the assembly. I tightened it all down, and it magically worked without notching. 5th gear feels a little weird, but the car shifts into all gears as it should.

    This is what happens when you try to do a mod on a (literally) zero budget. You end up having no margin for error, and end up having to make motor mounts from slabs of polyurethane from Sports Authority.

    I drove the car around today, and it pulls nicely, feels a bit stiffer with the new mount in place, and rides just like stock.
