    Schaeffer oil must see!

Today a lubricant company called schaeffer came by the shop i worked out and showed us some demonstrations on their oil.

First Video : This is mobil 1 10w30 synthetic oil. As we applied pressure, it continued to squeal and eventually stopped the motor due to friction. This shows you how much protect you get from mobil 1.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G-EKibKKfwc

Second Video : This is Schaffer's 10w30 oil. As we applied pressure the squealing stopped and the pressure dropped due to less friction. The oil has a substance called "molly" which coats the motor for extra protection. no matter how much pressure i applied, i could not stop the motor.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hYzfcjgxfm0

Third Video : Here we are running it without any lubricant and you can see that it is still protected with a coating called "molly" from the oil which helps protect your motor from dry starts.

fuck mobil 1! after seeing this i will be running this on my car and all my customers.

cool thread. i'm very interested, but also very skeptical. i'd love some more info/tests on this product, especially one from an independant testing place.

i personally got to test the demonstration and i got to say it really works. it was dyno proven to add 6 whp on a gto and 4 whp on a s2000. he also showed me temperature graphs which show that with their oil, the motor runs 20 degrees cooler.

Alot of oils use MoS2 (MolydiSulfide aka Moly) as additives. It's been used for years. We use it in the aerospace industry when designing parts that must lock together and survive in high temp environments. Its usually found in powder form in our apps and has to be brushed on. Did they mention the size of the Moly particles? It'd be interesting to use that oil and take a look at the oil filter after a few thousand miles.

yea he showed us the moly in powder form, it was greyish. i did not pay attention to what size the particles were. it took alot of scrubing to take off the coat of molly.

they have been around for a long time but not too many place carry it nor is it a popular brand but it s proven to do the job. as of right now i think we are the only shops around here that can get it. it goes for 9 bucks a quart.

the guy that came to our place, has been testing his oil in his truck(ford f 2 or 350) every couple thousand miles for viscosity lubricity and some other stuff and said he was on 18,000 miles on that oil

AKEP: I hope those who thought, or might think, that Schaeffer's Motor Oil was actually worth a damn watch the youtube clip you attached. Like the Sequence IV test that Valvoline advertises, Shaeffer's "test" has absolutely no meaningful relationship to the demands placed on motor oil in an internal combustion engine. In short, the Schaeffer's "test" is a con.

i'm not doubting the testing you personally got to do, but that is hardly what I would consider a fair and unbiased test. You used his equipment to test on, thats a huge variable right there in its self. we cannot verify anything about the two oils other than the fact that he poured one from a mobil1 bottle and the other from his bottle. i'm not saying he lied or anything, i'm just saying that i would like to see a 3rd party independant testers results (such as a consumer reports type). it does look like a really amazing product, but i've just learned from experience if things seem too good to be true they usually are. cool thread though man!

I did a little more interwebs research and found the following. Apparently the "one armed bandit" as some people call that machine is not endorsed or used by SAE or ASTM. There are also videos of people putting shampoo in that same machine and having pretty much the same result as some of these wonder oils. So I would take those results with a grain of salt.
