    Cold Air Intakes

AEM Cold Air Intake (02-05 Si specific)

Cost - $50 to $352 (used to new prices)
Diameter of piping - 2.5 inches
Filter type - Cotton, K&N style
Where to find - Ask our Vendors
Misc. - The original cold air intake design for our 02-05 Civic Si.

AEM Cold Air Intake (02-06 RSX Type S specific)

Cost - $70 to $395 (used to new prices)
Diameter of piping - 3.0 inches
Filter type - Cotton, K&N style
Where to find - Ask our Vendors
Misc. - Replacement washer bottle not needed for Ep3 application. Some modification may be required for Ep3 fitment.

Cheap Ebay or Chinese Cold Air Intake

Cost - $25 to $60 (used to new prices)
Diameter of piping - 2.5 inches
Filter type - Foam, very thin and low filtration
    Where to find - http://www.dashzracing.com/02-05-Hon...-p6770767.html
Misc. - This is just an example of the cheap Chinese or Ebay cold air intakes for the 02-05 Si. I'd highly recommend changing to a K&N filter and looking for one in a 3.0" diameter vs. the 2.5" diameter if you're going to "go budget" on your intake.

Fujita Cold Air Intake (02-05 Si specific)

Cost - $80 to $256 (used to new prices)
Diameter of piping - 2.5" or 3.0" (for Si specific or RSX Type S specific either will work)
Filter type - Cotton, K&N style
Where to find - Ask our Vendors
Misc. - Not to be confused with the Fujita short ram intake.

Fujita Cold Air Intake (02-06 RSX Type S specific)

Cost - $80 to $256 (used to new prices)
Diameter of piping - 3.0 inches
Filter type - Cotton, K&N style
Where to find - Ask our Vendors
Misc. - Washer bottle that is included is not needed to install this into your Ep3. Other modifications to make this CAI fit, may be required.

Discontinued Injen SP Cold Air Intake (02-05 Si specific)

Cost - $100 to $236 (used to new prices)
Diameter of piping - 2.5 inches
Filter type - Cotton, K&N style
Where to find - Ask our Vendors
Misc. - Specific to fit around the battery on our car, instead of under our battery tray. Fuse box must be relocated as well. Has since been redesigned by Injen so this version is discontinued.

Injen SP1576 Cold Air Intake (02-05 Si specific)

Cost - $100 to $236 (used to new prices)
Diameter of piping - 3.0 inches
Filter type - Amsoil filter (no oil needed & air flow is improved based on test i found)
Where to find - Ask our Vendors
Misc. - Current production Injen CAI for 02-05 Si. Not to be confused with the old version above. Arguably the best 02-05 Si specific cold air intake available to our cars.

Injen SP Cold Air Intake (02-06 RSX Type S specific)

Cost - $80 to $276 (used to new prices)
Diameter of piping - 3.0 inches
Filter type - Amsoil filter (no oil needed & air flow is improved based on test i found)
Where to find - Ask our Vendors
Misc. - Very similar design to the RSX Type S specific AEM cold air intake. Washer bottle NOT needed for EP3 application. Some modification may apply.

    Tenzo R Cold Air Intake

**This picture DOES NOT look accurate to an Ep3 CAI setup**
Cost - $60 to $108 (used to new prices)
Diameter of piping - Unsure. Either 2.5" or 3.0". Requires a 3.0" bypass, so possibly 3.0" inches
Filter type - Unknown (most likely cotton)
Where to find - Ask our Vendors or http://www.nlmotoring.com/Tenzo-Cold.../tcaci02si.htm
Misc. - The picture above DOES NOT look accurate for an Ep3 CAI. I can not find an actual accurate picture of this CAI.

The Injen SP1576 is the one that goes under the battery and is 3inches . The older Injen RD1576 is the one that goes around the battery and is not 3 inches.

Thank you! I was getting confused with that one. No online business has good pictures of which is which. Much appreciated!

FIXED - Let me know if that is correct now. I have only ever owned RSX CAI's so I get a little skewed with the Ep3 variations.

Finally, a possible end all. However I think that your numbers on the Password JDM Intake may be off.

Cost - $150 to $270 (used to new prices)
Diameter of piping - Unknown, but would assume 3.0 inches.
Filter type - Cotton, K&N style
Performance - 4-8whp +/- (depending on your supporting modifications)
Where to find - Ask our Vendors or http://passwordjdm.com/PasswordJDM-D...P1899C379.aspx
Misc. - Also available in Kevlar and as a package deal with an Odyssey PC680 battery.
The website states possible 18.1 from Erick's Racing and show dyno chart...any more information we should know that estimations were based on.

I looked around as much as I could but with dynos and modifications be so far off air intake to air intake, I heavily estimated on them. That's why I had the +/- after each one. If you're in Colorado and somebody is in Florida and he's using a dynapack and you're using a dynojet than the whp is going to be significantly different. Hence my reasoning. Any way you look at it, CAI's are going to net you the most whp in most aspects.

I'm open for dynos and such but for the most part the estimations are darn close to what you'll end up with depending on modifications.

*I wasn't familiar with the Password intake, but I've never trusted "dynos for marketing". They're always bigger than what anybody else is able to get or based off a heavily built engine. I wanted the whp to be very general and open in their estimations.

The information for other mods are listed, none (2003 RSX-S) and cat-back (EP3). http://passwordjdm.com/PasswordJDM-D...P1910C379.aspx

Also is the comparison based on a K20A3 or K20AX in general?

I think you should include links with some backing information. I own an AEM CAI and am sometimes pissed with the response. Also I have heard that many new racing teams are using a short design that sits behind the headlight, creating the velocity stack effect. Any comment or findings on this?

I won't believe marketed dyno info from any company. They are in the business to sell first and everything else second.

I tried to make this a "VERY GENERAL" aka 101 list and idea of intakes. I can always take out the whp estimations if it is causing confusion. Actually, I may just do that in order to stop future arguments and debates.

Short path custom intakes in place of headlights should be left for a specific thread dedicated to such a topic. But I agree with your statement that would be one of the better possible intakes.

I was in talks with the people from Tegiwa earlier in the year and they said their gruppe-m knock off is going to be slightly modified to fit LHD cars in the near future, I haven't heard anything from them since late summer though, but they are trying to make a LHD compatible one.
