    Transmission choices

There are a few six speed transmissions I've been looking at.
    On ebay of course.
There is a Z1 trans with 29k miles for a great price, pretty much $900 shipped.
even has a crappy 30 day warranty but who cares with those low miles it has to run good right?

The speed sensor is different so i need the converter or Dakota Digital thingy.
can someone send me the link to that.
And whoever has it could you tell me if it's worth it an what happens if you run the trans w/out it.

There's also this transmission from an K20A2. He's been selling it for a while like a looong while.
$950 shipped 35k miles on it. No warranty, what do you guys think?

Then there's this sucker I almost bought. He said he'd sell me this for $950 shipped plus the flywheel. It has 47k miles on it also a Z1 trans. and a 6 month warranty. pretty cool.

But i like the first and second. First because it has the lowest miles an decent price and second one because I don't have to buy the speed converter thing. Let me know wassup before these auctions are up so i can 6 speed!!
    thanks.

Ehh the 6 month warrantee sounds nice.
    I mean it's got 47k
But if they are willing to offer a full warrantee for 6 months, it's probably in great working order

I'm thinking the k20a2 MIGHT have been abused
thinking since there is absolutely no warrantee

    I'm a noob, sorry I can't help

    Yeah the first one.
They declined my offer cuz I live in Ca.
Not sure how they knew that, I never told them.
I hope I can get it for less then the asking price, I told them to send me a counter offer.
    Haven't heard from them yet.
What's wrong with the K20A2 trans?

wow really how shallow of them it was a good offer, but like PatrickJamesYu said the other may have be abused and on top of that it has no warranty

I have yet to see a part on Ebay that the purchaser wasnt screwed, blued and tattoed......

    2nd gear is probably shot

You will need a VSS convertor to convert the Z1's signal from a high frequency to the early low frequency signal.

I am not a fan at all of the FD gear selection in the Z1 trans unless you are running a basically stock A3/A2 engine

what does FD gear selection mean?
Should i not even be looking at Z1 transmissions?
I am goin to be running turbo as well.
then in a year or so throw in my Z1 engine.
I know somone that will put the gear set of the type s in my trans in like 4 hrs.
but i don't know where to buy that.
plus the cost to pay him and buy the gear sets is probably the same as buying a used transmission.

i say get the z1, cause what doug says is kinda true, but you gamble that with any used transmission. which is why i chose to rebuild it than buy a type s.

go look at the tsx 6th gear thread. it has a diagram with all the gear ratios. and finda gear ratio calculator.
    Here

this way, you can see your cruising speeds and all that.

    Damn you're helpful!
    Thanks for the information.
The only reason id rather buy then rebuild is cuz I really can't have down time on my car. I have like 2 days to do everything.
