taking apart rear tail lights

i dont mean removing them ..i mean opening and removing the lens from the housing

sticking them in the oven wont work here
from research, the only possible way to do so is taking a dremel to them; kinda scary especially since i dont wanna ruin the set (thanks again for the set Lauren )

is there any other method i have overlooked?..any/all help is appreciated

id offer my spare usdm housings, but i love my factory freak lense that came on my car (my 02 ep came from the factory with 1 type r lense on a usdm housing)

i know youll like the LEDs integrated into a set of EP tails..but you probably wont like how i plan to re-do the coloring (set im fabbing are 04s)

I haven't really taken a look at the rear's
but why can't these be tossed in the oven?
or with a heat gun or something?

I'm thinking if you can't heat it to split it open
a dremel would really be the cleanest way.
It's a pretty accurate tool.

i know it's possible to open up the rear tail lights. i remember seeing a threard with pics of a facelift type r with full LED tails that he custom made. i'm trying to find it right now

I believe per DOT regs, the way automakers are able to get away with running clear tails is because in the bumper or somewhere in the rear they have red reflectors.
Unless we put red reflectors on the bumper... expect to get pullover.

True dat! Especially in Cali.

not a bad idea..the hard part would be figuring out how to get individual brake and running lights seeing as our tail lights use double filament bulbs.
its worth a shot though..once i finish with the 04/05s ill try that on my 02/03s

ive managed to fab the rear fog light (just a test; the final one will be going on the driver side tail light):




this school quarter's almost over which means ill have some time to play with it more
