How much oil should be burnt between changes?

I'm using basic dino oil (penzoil or similar) at the correct weight 5w/20, always change the filter. When I check the dipstick (at oil change) my level is between the 2 circles, closer to the bottom than the top (I would say about 2/5's to the top). This seems like a fucklot! I'm not hard on the car at all, maybe hitting 5k 3 or 4 times during a tank of gas, rarely do i go higher than that. It's been doing this for the past 20k miles+ (currently at 91K). I do let my car warm up before driving it. I've heard people say this is normal, but normally only if you're nailing on the vtec, which I'm not. I do have an engine warranty up to 100,000 miles through Honda, not sure if they will check it over free at the dealer? I just wanna make sure I get everything running as it should before my warranty is up

5w-30 will solve your problem... also check for cam damage with 5w-20

sounds like you're only consuming 3/4ths of a quart, which is pretty normal. nothing to be concerned about.

Thats not bad oil consumption at all. On a k20a3 "nailing on the vtec" happens everytime you pass 2200 rpm so don't worry about that.

    use 5w 30
5w 20 is not even used by the dealers anymore because of engine damage.

If you read your owners manual it does state that your engine will consume a litle oil and always check your oil between fill ups.

i moved this post to engine section.

Yeah the Kseries engines use more oil than an engine without VTEC and VTC, the reason is that the oil pump produces such a high pressure that at mid/high rpm's the oil is squirted out of the main bearings at such a high pressure/volume that a large porportion is put into a vapor state and is pulled through the PCV system and burned off.

And as mentioned leave the 5w20 swill for grandmas grocery getter.......
