    Cleaning up oxidation problem?

I just bought an 04 EP3 but the hood and the top of the car has major oxidation on it. I was just wondering if there was a way to fix it without having to repaint my whole car?

You can hit it with some cutting compound and a buffer (if the oxidation is really bad) , then polish and wax it. This will only work if the clear isn't destroyed. Just test a small spot to make sure you are going to get the results you want.

Or, if you don't have experience with a buffer and compound (you can burn through the clear coat), you could start by trying a clay bar and lubricant (the kits you can get come with both). Have any pics of how bad it is?

I'll take some pictures tomorrow and post it up. It's pretty bad though. It ate my clear coat on my hood and started peeling. The top of my car is just oxidized.

if it's peeling off the hood, you'll need to get it re sprayed.

For the roof, if it's not peeling you might be ok. Get a porter cable random orbital sander, with buffing attachments and go to town. It's hard to mess up paint with that pc7472. Just get a good rough cut paste and work your way up.

Here's part of the roof. You can see that theres no more shine.

My hood. Peeling, and no more shine. Theres scratches on there. I'm not sure if someone keyed the previous owner or thats just the paint.

And the rear of the top connecting to my spoiler.

Wow thats really bad, you aren't going to find any easy fix for that. I would say you need the roof and hood repainted.

Dude, clay bar is not going to touch that. It looks like your clear is pooched. I think this is a re-paint situation!

Previous owner was a spoiled adult. He has various cars but never takes care of them. He gets new ones and tosses the old ones like candy.

Wonder what he did to get it to oxidize that fast. My friend's oxidation is as bad as that, but he has a car 10 years older than ours.

thats what no waxing and washing the car all the time with dawn/dish detergent does...you keep breaking down the clear :(
plus add in some miserable sun damage, extreme heat, lots of rain, maybe some salt?
    be jealous :P
