    I'm betting that it's like mine... bad timing threw off the valves and now you dropped one... GO!

    So I need to change my vote;
    got the valve cover off right now to adjust the timing, sounded like #1 and #3 had gotten a little out of whack.
    I've had the cover off for adjustments in the past, and galling was never an issue...until now. WTF?! Both #1 AND #3 have some serious galling going on the exhaust side!!!! Seriously, I'm at a loss! Between the last time I adjusted valve clearance and this time, nothing has changed with my regular maintenance. Same oil brand/weight, filters, etc. Until just recently, I'd not even heard signs that any valves were out of whack. (The noise started bein noticeable last week, though it may have been hiding under the normal sound of noisy ass fuel injectors for a little while before that).
    But...yeah, serious, serious galling goin' on on my exhaust lobes, and it appears to have all happened in the last ~40,000-50,000 miles.
    WTF?

    i thought you basically said you haven't changed your oil in 50k. lol. maybe you got an early 03 model, with leftover 02 cams.
