I don't think you can check and see if its a 2007, but the engine should be 'stamp'd" **K24a2**
BTW: for more info on Engines plz take a trip in the "Engine Section" of Ephatch
Hi guys,
first of all, i just want to give my thumbs up as an appreciation to those who have built/started/maintain this website. I'm in this pretty much every effin' day. I;ve got tons of work to do here at work, yet I'm still on it. anyways. i do love ephatch.com :)
I've come across a honda guy who's selling a 2007 k24a2 TSX engine and he's claiming that it only has 20,000km+ (of course i am skeptical)
but as the title of this thread says; how can you tell if an engine is really a 2007 k24a2 TSX engine? or let alone know that it only ran 20,000km+?
I do NOT want to spend money on something that is NOT a k24a2 TSX engine.
Anyways, he's selling everything I need for $1,800 CAN.
Given that this engine is legit as he says it is... then I'm gonna jump right on to it.
(I can't stop rubbing my palms together) :) I've already saved up for a k-pro.
No, I have not seen the engine yet, but I am going to check it out this weekend.
So for now I guess I'm asking you guys to advise me on what to look out for.
any markings, serial numbers or what not... Pictures would be greatly appreciated.
It would also be nice to be informed of any other visual/physical differences between the crv, accords, tsx or any other k24 engine out there.
I think this thread would be very informative for to those who are shopping or are still contemplating about it.
ps. it's not a bmw but i love my ep3.

yes you can. you gota look up the vin on the engine block. that will tell you what year its from
the way i verified what i was getting when i bought my k24 is i requested the VIN and did a "carfax" free report.
you never needed to mr. forced induction!
2006-2008 tsx motors have "RBB-2" Stamped on the head, look around the exhaust ports.
The front of the motor near the starter will say K24A2, and the rbb stamp on the head will verify what generation (rbb is 04-05, rbb 2 is on the 06-08)
as far as milage you'd have to find the car it came from and check the cluster. there really is no reason to lie about it, but you better be getting everything from manifold to manifold and valve cover to pan if you're paying $1800 for it.

yeah the year digit will also have the corresponding digits for year, after the checksum it should say 4-5-6-7 or 8 for, you guessed it, 2004-2008. i believe it goes up to 15 or 20 in alphanumeric, so anything before 2010 is 0123456789 then i think abcdefghij.
Rhcp0801 got his for that with low milessss

Just a FYI, RBB-2 does NOT indicate a version, it only indicates the plant/mold line that produced the casting. The castings for the head are IDENTICLE, there are ONLY internal differences(valve size). You will need to search the VIN tag on the backside of the engine. Order a replacment head for a early K24A2 from Acura and it will be a RBB-2 casting as well.
