Has anyone had fiberglass side skirts are they any good. I never had any fiber glass parts do they break fairly easy?? Just cant make up my mind my local shop has them for 150$$ and do not know if i should get them
They are alright when it comes to fitment. They don't break that easily though cause I had them mounted from the front only and duct taped in the back (i know stupid) and one day on the highway it disconnected from the back and warped and dragged on the road. Nothing really happened to it except a couple scratches. Did not crack or anything. Though like I said fitment is not that great and you will have to work with it to make it look legit.
Hmmm... this thread is old, and probably in the wrong section, but I've had my fiberglass side skirts on since mid-2004. Fiberglass only cracks when you bend it or hit something.
Also, just thought I'd mention, way back in 2004, fiberglass ctr style skirts only cost me $75. Now they're $150... talk about inflation.
I have fiber glass lip kit all around almost one year with no problem just keep in mind if the front lip is low tries to take care
Take your time with the fitment and play around with it. Side skirts don't crack that easily so fiberglass should be fine.
You'll be fine as long as you dont try to mold them flush. I made the mistake of doing that with my 944 turbo S, and about 4-5 years afterwords they started spider-webbing. It was due to the amount of stress put on the sides around hard cornering, It was not that bad, but if you were OCD about it it was noticeable. It was also a RWD car, so it did tend to flex a little more than a FWD vehicle.
