DIY One piece REAR strut bar INSTALLATION

So I got something special in the mail(suppose to be)

I thought that it was a flat bar, but nooo, it's a round tube(about 2")

Got it off of egay. The sticker says "civic es 1.7, 2.0, DC5"

Okay for the install. You need
    -14mm socket(3/8 or 1/2 ratchet)
    -extension for the prefered ratchet
    -10mm wrench
    -flathead screwdriver
-I think you should add washer to the mounting holes as they don't have grooves to stop the nut.(I'll show pictures later about what I'm talking about)

    1. Take out your rear carpet and pillar things. I've already done it a long time ago so I don't remember off the top of my head how to take them out.(maybe screwdriver prying)

    2. For the one piece rear strut bar, I found it easier to work with the ratchet if you take off the this brace.

Self explainatory.(10mm wrench) I just had trouble with the top screw. The plastic things get in the way.
    AFTER

    3. Take out the two nuts from both rear suspension

    4. Test fit(I found the strut bar mounting holes had plenty of space to go over the screws(unlike some where you have to force it in)On a side note, I do wonder if struts are better on the tight side or the loose/perfect fit side.

    5. I also found out of this ultra huge round bar that the bar squishes a wire

Use screwdriver to pry out the white thingy.

    So I reroute it

    6. Now add washers before you put the nuts back on and install everything back in reversion operation.

Just a quick overview. Nothing too detailed.

Thoughts about it: Rear doesn't roll(of course) Ultraracing's advertisement looked special, but when I first saw it in person, it didn't look too special. And like always, the rear starts to clunk again, but it'll go away after who knows when.(last summer meshed with it and the clunking just dissapear a month ago) Now its back after the install:)

This was my first powder coated product. Unless that's how powder coated things look, but it didn't look that good to me and the color at the tip where the mounting point were chipping a little. Maybe it was just me. Maybe I expected too much from a company that looked good cuz I heard that their products were difficult to get. I offered $110 shipped on ebay. They state that its steel instead of alum, but it felt light too. Alum and ti must be way way lighter then.

Wow, that looks pretty sweet. Only rear strut bar that's grabbed my attention other than http://www.ephatch.com/forum/showthread.php?56618-DC5-R-bracing-on-EP3-Project . I like that it's solid instead of hinged. Do you have any installed pics from the back of the hatch?

Yeah as soon as I get more money, just had to replace O2 sensor and my rotors starting to get blue rings! Always something holding me back....

@15000rpms- Does the trunk carpeting still sit over the bar pretty well, or under it I guess, without looking janky?

The carpet can still go over pretty well. If it goes under the bar, then the carpet will be squished.

Clubrsx doesn't carry them because they said that the product was too difficult to get. That's why I bought it off ebay. I still have something special coming too.

These are the lines I was talking about earlier. They help the screw come to a stop. Also washers are a plus.

So one day I woke up and this thing fell from the sky. Help me guess what it is.

I talked to passwordjdm a few weeks ago and they said that they will consider making us struts and braces. That sounds like in the middle, but most likely not. If not, after I take a few welding classes, I will make my own aluminum front lower brace that is similiar to the psjdm bars.(found something simliar online). Just wait cuz it seems that no one is willing to just make a few for the community and not have the "get me 50 people and I'll do it" attitude. Those front bars should be better than oem and a few more rear under bars.

i've contemplated making front strut bars for us, the refinishing is $$ though, i wouldn't have the money up front to have it done for a handful of pieces.

plus i wanted to make a 3 point, but i dont see a good 3rd point.
