    DIY Window regulator

Wile rowing my window up last week, I heard a snap and the window glass fell inside the door. After taking the inner panel apart, I found that a cable on the window regulator broke. I did some reading on here about it first but did not find a DIY so here you guys go.

It is very simple and straight forward. If anyone has any questions or steps I may have omitted, please post up and I will try to help.

    OEM part number: 72250-S5S-G02

All bolts in this DIY are 10mm

For those who have not removed the inner door panel before, reference the link below. Heitzke did a very good step by step DIY.

    http://www.ephatch.com/forum/showthr...el-Replacement

For the drivers side, the assembly will go in with the motor facing the front of the car first.

Next, push the entire assembly through the pictured section of the door. It may take a little fidgeting to get the entire assembly through but it will go.

Now that the entire assembly is inside the door, the motor part of the assembly needs to be bolted in. Reaching your hand through one of the openings on the right of the door. Align the motor with the three holes. Once this is done, slide the bolts down as pictured and tighten.

The rail section now needs to be mounted. This part is straight forward, just align one of the bolts with the hole it belongs to as pictured and tighten everything down.

All four rail bolts tightened in picture. Between the four bolts, you can see where the glass attaches to the rail through the two holes in the door:

Lower the glass inside the door until it rests on this part of the rail. Align the rail and glass holes and bolt together.

Once this is done, attach all electrical connections and install the door panel. You are finished!

aaaahhhh! this just happpened to my ep3!!!
I managed to take off the door panel... but then i found this is what happened.
i went to Honda Dealership and they want $300CAN+TAX for it.
How much did they charge you for yours?

Is there any other aftermarket piece for this?
I'm pretty sure I can install this myself but I'm so tempted to replace the whole system with a manual lever to get it up or down.

Can you guys help me find or redirect me to a cheaper solution for this.

its been raining this week and i have a ghetto plastic bag for a window.
    and winter is coming. :(

oh and PS. they don't even have this... its a back order for another 3 months.

i finally replaced it with OEM part. my mechanic bought it for only $170CAN, he was charging me $120 for the install.
i said "fuck that, just lemme buy the parts from you". he was pretty nice so he let me.
better than paying $300+ plus waiting for 2 months because its back ordered.

the only thing that was tricky was removing the door panel.
it was scary at first because i had to pry the door panel by force and i was afraid of breaking the plastic clips.
    unfortunately i broke 1 out of 9 clips :( (i think, i don't remember).
also avoiding the sticky shit that was used to glue the white plastic was inevitable.
but once all of that is out of the way, it was pretty straight forward.
do be careful not to let the window drop down, that will be another headache to deal with.
i also had trouble putting the plastic door panel back into position. it was because of the plastic cover of the stereo speaker close the side mirror was on the way... you have to remove that before you can fit everything back into position.
i'm not sure how i removed the whole door panel without removing that.

anyways, it took me a while to figure out how to do all this since its my first time.
but if this shit happens again on my other window, i would finish it a lot faster.
I don't know about you guys but having to do things yourself and being able to finish it gives you a proud feeling.

im pretty happy with it :) although the tint on my window have been scrapped in a circular motion due to the old regulator's wire harness. :(
but at least i now have a window :)
no more driving around with a taped up plastic window :)

while you're at it... i think this would be the best time to spray or rust proof the inside of the door.
try not to drown it though... it'll eventually drip down, exiting on the 3 holes located at the bottom of the door.

question... does the passenger window have a one click automatic up/down like the driver side do? or not?
my mechanic said only for the driver side. unless, mine is busted :(

an easy way to keep the window up is to just tape it and wrap it up around the window, a few strips of masking tape works perfect. Passenger window does not have the auto features like the drivers side does

i am also thinking of buying an aftermarket for replacement but thinking what happened to my friend who did the same thing and now his window again is not working properly. so i think it will be a waste of money buying aftermarket because you dont have any assurance how long it will last and how durable it is. better to buy OEM but NOT FROM MY DEALER.lol. Anyway thanks for the guide. I will be working on my windows this weekend. This will be helpful.

I got the same problem with my 02 .
I never try to fix it because my ac works before fine .
But I just get my a/c compressor out .
I think it's time to buy a new regulator firts .

After searching . For a used regulator ( without luck ) and ask at Honda dealer for a new one I believe it's to expensive for my minimal salary $$ by hour.

I found at this guy on k20a.org ( I don't try to make publicity at this forum , just I'm trying to help with my experience )
The one he can found me one for $115. Us. Dollars shipped .
I think it's pretty good deal . And I wana start saving cash for it .

This just happened to me twice in 2 weeks. I had a complete extra door well swapped out doors and well nothing but headaches and 4 days later the 2nd door window regulator went out. But this time it didnt scare me. I actually put it down and it didnt come back up but all I heard was some mean crunching etc...
Trying to find a used one. Since the dealer wants way too much for this. :-/

Happened to me this morning. Got in my car to go to work and my window was all the way down. Is it going to be a big problem since the window is already down? I'm thinking of ordering this......what do you guys think?

It's more of a pain to take uninstall the regulator. There are two bolts that will only line up with holes in the door skeleton with the window halfway open/closed.

eBay parts are hit or miss.

Guess I'll need an extra set of hands to hold up the glass

BUY OEM not aftermarket for these kind of parts. I have heard of guys replacing this with an aftermarket part and it breaking again, multiple times.
AFH is great for getting OEM goodies. Get them here http://www.afhparts.com/auto-parts/2...r-windows-scat

#2 and #7 in the parts diagram.

Is it possible to separate the motor from the regulator? I have mine out of the door and I want to replace the regulator but it's looking like that won't be possible can anyone chime in? Thank you for the DIY literally saving my life right now lol
