    DIY: CTR Steering wheel install

My last thread got lost in the crash of the site so here it is:

    Tools needed:
    10mm socket (3/8th drive)
    t30 torque socket
    19mm socket w/ extention. (I used 1/2in drive)
    Phillips head screwdriver
    Flat head screwdriver

First Make sure your front tires are centered and disconnet your car's battery (no pics needed lol) using the 10mm. I forget what the actually "technical" time you should wait but I gave it about 10min before I started the steering wheel removal. The air bad computer takes some time to loose its charge basiclly. Dont need a face full of air bag!

Remove the cruise control button mounting screws:

    remove the access panel:

Remove this air bag mounting bolt

On the other side of the steering wheel youll see this panel, remove it

Now the air bag (center of the steering wheel) will pull straight out. Becarefull of the harness connector.

Behind the bag youll see this:

Now pull the steering wheel off the column. I didnt need a steering wheel puller.

    Flip it over:

install the two backets you just took off your OEM wheel.

Now put everything back together and your ready to rock.

Great DIY. I found a local guy parting out his totalled RSX, and I have what may be 2 dumb questions:

    1. Do you know if the RSX wheels are the same as ours?

    2. Obviously his airbag deployed in the accident - from your DIY it seems like you just reinstalled your same airbag, right?

    Thanks!

    1. the dc5 wheel is the same except the color of the stitch and the color of the leather. obv the black one is the way to go. another good alternative is the s2000 wheel. there's one fs in the classified's right now.

    2. yea, the op reused his airbag. even if he didn't you can. the usdm ep3, dc5 and some s2k airbags are pnp

mine was a bish to take off. The airbag screws were covered in loctite.

when you take the wheel off it might not just pull straight off so push down on both sides simultaneously until it is lose then you can just pull it off
