Might Be the Water pump
My heater is only blowing hot air when I'm driving, when I'm at a stop it just blows normal(cold) air. I've heard of a few other people having this same problem. Does anyone know a solution or why it's happening?
Might Be the Water pump
It could be a couple of things, like above stated it could be the water pump and also check your coolant level.
Coolant level
Air bubble in coolant system
stuck open thermostat
Dunno about the stuck t stat. If it was stuck open he wouldn't have heat till he sat at idle for a while. If it was stuck closed he would be overheating...
Longshot possibility, but I have seen it happen... trash in your coolant system has plugged your heater core. Pull the hoses and backflush it to see if rust and scale comes out.
Also. Look for a collapsed hose in the coolant system and check your rad cap.
happened to me.
flushed the rad. wasnt that. wasn't the t-stat. its a bitch to get to too.
so i sold the car.
I would pull the two heater core hoses off the back of the head and try flushing the heater core out by itself (turn your heater on full blast of course). That way you arent wasting a ton of coolant if it isnt the issue. But run water through each hose... it should require little to no water pressure to get it to go through.
thermostat is easy as hell to get to from under the car
im having this problem as well for some reason :S and my car dont even have 60k miles on it yet, its a 02 but mine worked last year and this year it is like it doesnt want to work at all guess im gunna have to check some of these things out you guys said to check out and see if i can get it fix'd

im having the same problem.... i o out let the car warm up hoping to get in a nice warm car and that shit is still cold as hell.... about 3-4 min on the road it starts blowing hot air. I dont get it. Im a 1000 miles away from 100k i guess when i get to 100k ill just take it to honda for the 100k mile service and have them fix it.. Im tired of doing bs repairs on my cars lol
