I had 2 Type S 12" for one day, they got stolen, I replaced them with Type R 12's. The Type R subs are alot better, I would get them for sure. I am powering my 2 with the 1507 Alpine amp.

Type S = Single Voice Coil
Type R = Dual Voice Coil

DVC is much better. I bought my subwoofer already enclosed in a bandpass box from Alpine. They put a Type S in the box. Type S sounds great but I wish I had a Type R. I dont want to compromise the box at all or I would take it apart. Besides I'm not sure if I would mess it up because the DVC needs more box volume.
