DIY: Painting clear bumper lights yellow/amber.

If you had your OEM bumper lenses stolen or clips broken and want to invest in ebay ones, here are some instructions on how to make Ebay lenses look OEM.

First buy a pair on Ebay. I bought the clear ones and the fitment is fine. It will not sit perfectly flush with the bumper, but the OEM ones also have that problem.
Sand the front and sides with 800+ grit sandpaper. Then wash off the debris with water and wipe it dry.
Buy glass stain. I got mine from Michael's Craft store. Color is yellow.
Spray 5 coats each with 15-30 minutes in between coats. Make sure to get the clear sides when you spray.
Dry for 24 hours and apply clear coat paint for protection.

Yellow glass stain turns out pretty close to OEM. I suggest buying Amber 194 LEDs to go up front and red ones in the back. If you use white LED in yellow/amber housing it'll look bad. I think amber LEDs look really good.

Check out these red ones I just did for the back using ebay lights again.
This time I used liquid Glass Stain. It comes in a little bottle and is enough for both lights and still have a lot left. It's a PITA to work with though.

Right is the DIY one. Left is OEM.

You should. It's been my experience that color matching LEDs with the plastic color looks a whole lot better than when using white LEDs. If I have time, I'm going to replace my rear bumper lights with some red ones. Gonna get the ones that look like this:
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/2PCS-T10-RED...item2c621b1930
instead of SMD which look like this:
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/2X-T10-2825-...item3cc0bc9983
I bought a few Surface Mounted Diodes from Xeneth Xenon but about half of them dimmed or some of the diodes broke within a year.

looks nice! another option is to buy RIT dye at Walmart and dye the lenses. I dyed my turn signal lenses once and they turned out great. Only downside is after a year or so they start to fade.

It looks a lot better. Are those OEM lights running on the bottom of the spoiler lights? why?
I gotta find that middle brake light I took out. Maybe I can find a mod for them.

PS How did you paint that thing so fast? It took me 2 days to paint.
