just wondering if anybody knows if you can use the gearbox of a rsx type-s or do you have to get the jdm type-r gear box for 6 speed? Looking to buy the 02 type-r k20a with trans. let me know

I'm pretty sure you have to buy the shifter brackets that the cables connect to for the Rsx, if you are planning on using the type r transmission

i think both the type s and type r trans bolt right up. the 05-06 rsx transmissions are the ones that require modified brackets and what not.

What year EP3 do you have? It's mostly hit or miss but from what I've read the 02-03's had a better chance of NOT having to notch the shifter to compensate for the 6th gear.

Also, the only thing you need to modify with the 02-04 Type S trans is you need to swap the gear selector mechanism or the actual selectors themselves.

#1 and #2 are what you need to swap out if you plan on keeping the mechanism from your EP3 trans.

If you do get the trans with the RSX-S mechanism, leave it alone that's what #3 is.

Yes, the JDM K20A trans use the same transmission case as the 02-04 Type S and gear selector.
