DIY: Flip Key Remote for Honda si 02-03

Finally got the time to post this DIY. Hope will serve the purpose.

    Things needed:

    1. Honda/ Ridgeline 2 button remote (i bought it from ebay) you can buy from honda dealer or from ebay.
From dealer you can use Honda element/Crv remote(make sure its 2 button remote)

    2. The key blade (since 02-03 ep3 uses different keyblades form 04-05, it is necessary to get rid of the blank keyblade)

Buy the key blade from here http://www.ebay.com/itm/270427189509...84.m1439.l2649
Only place that i know of.

    3. Programming instructions: Program your remote as follows

1 Insert the key in the ignition and turn it in the on position.

2 Within 4 sec push the lock button on the keyless remote.

3 Turn ignition off and put it back on.

4 Within 4 sec push the lock button on the keyless remote.

5 Turn ignition off and put it back on.

6 Within 4 sec push the lock button on the keyless remote.

7 Turn ignition off and put it back on.

8 Within 4 sec push the lock button on the keyless remote.

9 As soon as you will hear the car lock.

10 Push the lock and you should hear the car lock.

11 Push unlock you should hear the car unlock.

12 With in 10 seconds turn off the ignition and take the key out.

13 Now you can test how you programed the Honda keyless entry remote.

Now the important part, Get the key cut from any key maker.

Take the remote apart by removing the two screws from bottom and one screw from the area where the Honda "H" is. Now it would look like this

To switch the keyblade from the assembly you need to get the pin out of the hole as seen in the picture below

I use a very small drill bit to do it, you can always do it your own way.

For refrence watch this (mute the sound, and disregard the tool used)

Now once the blank is removed from assembly insert the cut key and put the pin back in by hammering it. Don't use brute force. :)

I showed my key some love by wrapping it, you can just put it back together.

Remeber after loading the spring assembly turn the casing one time to load the spring with tension. Turm it the opposite side in which key will flip. Put the screws back and install the H emblem.

    Vollllllllllaaaaa you got your key,

One more thing if you don't have kpro and u still have your immobilizer on you'll not be able to start the car without your origional key. To solve the problem either get it programmed or cut the old one and replace the chip in your new remote.

    Hope that helps
