Fix scratched plastic?

i have some plastic pieces that have gotten scratched from normal use. im sure this is common. i was wondering if there is an easy way to buff or smooth out the scratches without making it look aweful. the scratches are not very deep they are just unplesent to look at. any ideas? i havnt tried anything yet as im afraid it will make it look worse.

the part I'm mostly concerned with the image is the part of the center counsel that is by your feet, I'm not sure now to explain it, i guess the part mostly toward the front of the car.
