Congrats! You'll like it. I've been there many times when I was in the Navy, but those were only short 4-5 day stops.
If you've rarely been overseas, it's a cool culture shock.
I just got an email today from work and I've been selected for overseas assignment to the Ryukyu Islands, more specifically Okinawa prefecture. Scheduled to be there beginning of next year.
I'm so stoked to go never been to Japan before and being able to live there makes everything that much better.
Cars I want to own while I'm over there LOL!
1995+ RX-7
EP3 Type R
R33 or R34 GTR
Lan Evo 6
And if I can get it for a low enough price, the Mugen RR. I should have enough from selling my cars here to buy one.
I will start a huge part out of my EP before I leave so keep an eye out for it when I make the thread.

damn you lucky though!
Lol what sucks is japanese law can't import any car not originally sold in Japan after 1976.
This means I ahve to sells my wife's brand new 2011 Chevy Cruze, part out my EP3 or sell it, and sell my RX-7.
Even though 2 of those 3 are japanese, they're unacceptable because the cars themselves weren't sold in Japan but here instead. It's the dumbest law ever.
The nice thing though is that I can import back from Japan an EP3-R or a 3rd generation RX-7 because both of those cars have U.S. counterparts so I can make them FMVSS legal with minimal parts swapping out. The not so nice thing is having to choose which one I want to bring back in 2016 LOL!
damn, congrats man. looking forward to the part out
Very awesome!! Congrats on the assignment!
Look up 555sexydrive on fitfreak.net, he's a former US military man named Chris who spent a very long time in Okinawa and knows all the sights, and best backroads around the island. He used to be on this forum as well with his old DC5R. He chronicled the DC5R's life before he was reassigned to Guam. Anyways, if you want good advice about Okinawa, he was there for around a decade.

Nice you get to travel to a different country. Kinda sucks all the time youve put into the ep and have to get rid of it.
congrats bro, i have a friend over there now and he bought a Sti and loves it.
Bastard! Thats where I was trying to go after A school but someone beat me to the orders. Have fun over there I heard its mostly marines.
Congrats man!!! When I was in the military I had an old Lieutenant who owned an R34 while in Japan and this was in 2002. Because there was no US counterpart, he couldn't bring it back to the states. The depressing thing though was he had the R34 in Japan, but drove a Ford F150 in the states. On his desk, he always kept a picture of him and his R34. lol
Looks like you will be there a good amount of time, so choose carefully.

Oy I don't even know where to begin on your partout lmao
damn id love to get over there and own a type R...but when are you gonna get another chance to own a R34?? good luck cant wait for the part out.
Not sure if I'm going to go ahead with the part out. As it stands I'm still leaving in August and I'll be gettin back with less than 2 months to spare before I am expected to PCS to Japan.
Parting everything out woud take a hell of a long time for me to take everything off and ship..
I'll see what I'll be able to pull out of my ass to make it happen.
Just made a F/S thread for her. It really sucks cause I really invested myself into her. I've done 95% of the mods myself sweating my ass off in a parking lot or in my garage. But oh well, we move on. It's not like I'll be out of the EP game. I'm going to own an EP3 Type R while I'm over there. I've already found some for sale for around $6000 with under 70k miles.
