    Gauges to add with JRSC

    Morning all,

I don't recall if I've asked this previously or not but I'm going to have a bit of free time this upcoming weekend and have an autometer 3 gauge pillar pod sitting in a box. Originally I had wanted a simplistic on the steering column option but wasn't able to find a good enough photo to show me that the gauge wouldn't be right in front of the speedometer and block my view.

So right now I have the 3 gauge pod, with a boost gauge, but what else, oil/water/wideband, granted I only have two other pods to fill.

Either the above, or I can just keep it stealthy and sell the pillar pod and not run any gauges. Just like some feedback.

I run boost, Oil pressure and Oil temperature. I originally had them sitting in front of the speedo like so:

Honestly, the only part of the dash that you couldn't see was the odometer and the fuel gauge. I have since moved them to on top of the dash like so:

Sorry for the crappy pic, I don't have an interior shot of them and Racheal's at home. One thing that is nice about the Defi gauges, is that they are digital and each gauge piggybacks off of the next gauge, so I only have one wire routed through the dash.

Thanks for the input and for sharing the photos! I'll look into the DEFI setup, it certainly looks cleaner than the autometer gauges!! Glad to see your still around!

you dont need a ton of gauges for the JRSC. in all honesty- just a boost gauge would be sufficient. i have my autometer boost gauge in a corsport steering column pod. If you are a little more worrisome- or in my case, running meth injection- a good wideband AFR gauge is good too. I have the AEM wideband mounted where the hazard button used to be. just remember gauge pods attract attention- and not always the good kind. the lower key you keep your stuff the better off you will be.

Sadly I did not even start to think along those lines. You bring up another good point, sad unfortunately but true. I've looked again at the RSX steering column single pod, but the images leave me wondering what one I'll get.

On one image, it shows the gauge far to the left, on another it's smack dab in the middle of the column. Which one did you receive?

mine is in the middle. its a nice piece- fits damn near perfect with some double sided tape. running wires is easy too- no pulling panels or drilling holes. if i could add 1 more gauge- it would be some kind of Intake air temp gauge retrofitted from a ECT gauge. if you want to be really slick- those tunerviews for kpro are pretty cool. all your kpro read outs on a small LED screen.

Always glad to help. The F1 flasher you have still working good? I'm still considering getting one after seeing yours.

Yep, it's still working fine, no issues at all :) It's a fun little weekend project, only a few wires to solder in.

You don't really need any gauges, but they are useful for certain circumstances. The only two I would seriously recommend would be a boost gauge and oil pressure gauge. The boost gauge more than anything gives you a quick peak at whether or not your belt is slipping. Yes, you can use a laptop if you have K-Pro to look at that if you feel it slip, but the gauge will be a little bit easier and quicker to read.

For a forced induction car, I personally believe an oil pressure gauge is a must. You will be able to see any drastic change in oil pressure, which is a clear sign of something breaking or going bad in a hurry. Being able to read this almost immediately can save further damage to the engine than what has already occurred. Again, these are just my opinions, but are just my suggestions based on my experiences.

i am in the same boat actually and just had a quick question...that steering column pod that sits directly in the middle...is it just the angle of the pic or does it really block where the car red-lines on the tach? was just wondering...

Just curious but why would u put the wideband where the hazard button is? I don't see it being to safe for u to be doing a wot pull while looking at ur gauge being a bright idea
