Car needs to be on for the power steering to work.
I haven't driven my 2002 ep3 in about a year now and I turn it on, need a new battery by the way will only turn on with booster, anywho I turn the steering wheel all the way to the right or all the way to the left and at the Maximum turn of each the steering wheel forces me to the opposite direction in a jerk. what is the malfunction? and how can I fix it?

hey colin i did turn it on with the booster, this is happening while its on
another thing i notice is that when i do this the enging does a little dip in rpms and the exhaust makes a little noise, i will purchase a new battery today see if that helps. do you guys reccomend buying a used battery?
i think i might have to purge the system of air from what ive been reading
I think OP's thinking that we have a hydraulic power steering system. I don't know exactly what our EPS entails, but I agree with beechstreet. I don't think there is any air in the EPS system to purge at all. I would think there's a fuse somewhere. I would start would that.
