Race Header vs. Reflash - Or Both?

So I can't get a definitive answer on this... Is there anyone on there who has a race header with the reflash, or does it run the risk of running too lean?

This is what I would like to do:
Ebay short ram w/ AEM filter
OBX race header w/ 2.25" midpipe
    Factory EP3 muffler
    Reflash

If I would run too lean due to the header, any thoughts on the gains of the header vs. those of the reflash? Which would YOU go with if you had to go with one or the other?

    Thanks :)

Hey syncmaster, I was doing some searching on this as well and found this:

It's made me want to stick with the a3. I'm pretty sure with a few extra mods - cams, intake manifold, and throttle body, there should be no reason not to hit 200whp.

    Hope this helps.

You won't see much gains on a stock A3 with any different intake mani. It's hard to hit 200 whp on the stock motor, 170-180 is a more reasonable goal. If you want quick power, get the emusa kit

Edit: You can also get the vtec killer setup if you don't mind losing gas mileage

What he said. Basic bolt ons and reflash or even kpro might get u 200crank HP which still is only around 180whp. And that's a might with kpro and good tune. Jrsc street kit with I/rh/ e and kpro probly gets u around 230 that's probly a better route over trying to squeeze power from cams and intake Mani/tb etc.

I guess what I am really wondering is whether or not running a race header with the reflash will cause a severe lean condition. On Hondata's site it says "tested program with header" but who knows what that really means. Just looking to see if anyone has first-hand experience.

I am not really looking to max out the a3 or anything, just run it until either the tranny or the motor takes a dump, then I'll be forced to swap. In the meantime I just want to have a little more fun with it than stock.

So you are running the RH along with the reflash and all is well?

Which CEL eliminator method did you end up using that works well?

Isn't the reflash meant for k20a3 ep3's with full bolt on's? ie I/RH/E setups?

Unfortunately it doesn't really say explicitly what is safe with the reflash on their site, hence my inquiry here.

I was just going by the provided link. I/H/E + Reflash and able to pull 180whp... why couldn't you expect another 20 from cams, mani and tb?
or, did the Reflash cover the majority of those numbers?
