    Brake dust shields

We've all seen that black sheet metal behind our rotors but are those shields really necessary? I'm doing the Type-S front caliper upgrade and wondering if I should get the dust shields for the bigger rotor or just take them off? I have heard mixed things...

they just protect your brakes from random road junk and keeps brake dust down. I took mine off because more brake cooling...because race car....go for it bro. you might want to take the wheels off and clean behind the wheel every once in a while but not a big deal if you have nice pads.
