REVIEW: Fortune Auto 500 Series Generation 5 Coilivers

As the title states, here is my review that I will update from time to time the more I drive on these. I will split this review into a couple categories; vendor service, customer service, packing, initial impression, installation, first drive/spirited driving/daily driving. I will give a rating of 1-10 for every category, 1 being the worst, and 10 being the best. I went with 10kg springs in front and 16kg rear with street and track valving. More info can be found here http://www.fortune-auto.com/

    Vendor Service: 10

I ordered these through THMotorsports, they are local to me and I talked directly with them. Very helpful and easy to work with, great group of people. No problems at all dealing with them and will be doing business with them in the future. They do not have the coilovers listed on their website, but you can order through the phone or by email or in person. They are an authorized dealer as well.

    Customer Service: 9

Fortune Auto was great to deal with, however I was told I would have my set within 4 weeks but it in fact took 5 weeks. When I mentioned how I was displeased with the fact that I was given the wrong ETA on the facebook ephatch group, an operations manager from Fortune Auto contacted me and apologized. He said that he would have my set rushed to get finished and would have it shipped out the same day or next. It was not shipped the same day or next because one of the lower brackets did not pass quality control testing which isn't a big deal for me but I already have been waiting for a while. All was well though after that.

    Packing: 10

They came wrapped very nicely and in a nice box, no rips or tears in the box and everything was there. No damage at all to the coilovers and they came with the spanner wrenches, instruction booklet, and a sticker (+10 whp! )

    Initial Impression: 10

Holding these, they appeared to be great quality. No defects in the finish and came with everything I needed. Definitely felt like I was holding a very expensive set of suspension at a fraction of the cost.

    Installation: 8

I started with the rears first and I ran into some issues. When I was trying to slide the tophats through, the studs on the tophats didn't seem to fit quite right. I had my dad hold the coilover while I take a look why they weren't sliding in. The studs almost seemed like they weren't straight and had a slight bend to them. I contacted Fortune Auto and they just told me that it should go in because they are OEM Honda tophats and that they can't do much because they are already closed. Well, if it should have just gone in then I wouldn't be calling them! I ended up just having my dad drill out one of the holes for the studs on each side and in they went no problem. The following day I got an email from Fortune Auto saying that it just should take some wiggling to get them in but the following day was too late since I already got them in. Fronts went in no problem at all but the brackets for the wheel speed sensor and brake line didn't have the correct size hole and the bolts didn't want to thread in.

    First Drive/Spirited Driving/Daily Driving: 12

Simply amazing! I was totally mind blown at how compliant the ride was but it still handled like it's on rails! Takes bumps and dips very well but takes turns even better. Totally surpassed my expectations and made my jaw drop. During spirited driving, the car is very planted and you can really control the car well in corners. You turn, it listens. I have taken some highway exits at speeds and the occasional 90* turn around town and it just goes! Took some buddies for a ride and they were very impressed and couldn't believe how well it handled. Daily driving on these is like riding on a cloud with occasional turbulence when going over some bad bumps. It doesn't ride like a luxury car, since you can still feel small imperfections in the road and whatnot but feels firm and not stiff.

    Overall: 1000000000000000

I am VERY HAPPY with these coilovers and totally recommend them to EVERYONE. Couldn't be happier and shoutout to THMotorsports and Fortune Auto for being awesome! Now enjoy some eye candy

God, I need a set of these more than I need my own hands.

Peter is a champ for getting these with how well the roads in Chicago and surrounding burbs are kept up.

You wouldn't believe how well these coilovers take potholes. I was completely shocked

Considering them too. Do the fronts have the camber plate or not?

Bump. Any other members here who have these coilovers? I'm curious if they are really worth installing.

They don't make them for our cars anymore. I think because they had problems developing them. I just had 500s put on my CRX, and reviews there have been great. I've got BC DS series with Sprint springs on my EP3 since early fall, and have been great so far.

Curious about the BC DS, what spring rates did you go with and how do they ride on the street? Is there a noticeable difference when you make adjustments from soft to hard? Have you done any autocrosses or track days on them or anything like that? Anything else you would like to add would be great, thank you.
