another cam galling/5w-20 experience

I'm hoping a switch to 5w-30 means the replacements won't be chewed up.

To be honest, I really have no clue why it happened. All I know is that it happened, what my oil changing interval and type was, and that my new cams get here Thursday.

I'm concerned less with why these ones broke and more with preventing the new ones from dying.

There used to be a lot of information on this site with the w20 being the suspected culprit. Then ephatch crashed and crashed again in 08. Most of the relevant information was lost.
