    Question Stock wheel offset, searched.

Is our stock wheel offset 45mm? I'm set on getting a 16" wheel but they're hard to find that look good. I have it narrowed down to axis vpds or some subsidary of volk from machiii.net . The only problem is the vpds are a 38mm offset. Will that work on our cars, my first rims on my civic ex were 38mm and they rubbed like hell when lowered.

    Ep = 45mm stock

16 inch on Ep(depending on width, Ideal is 7inch) 38 *might* rub depending on the tire(size and model) and your drop.

    best case is

40mm- 45mm 16x7 , 205/50/16 Depending on the tire I can't see this rubbing with just about any drop

    you sure it's +45? what's your source?

I'll measure the stock wheels once my aftermarket wheels get here.

why only a 205mm tire on a 7.5" wide wheel?

the width of the tire affects rubbing more than the width of the wheel. king motorsports is running a 225mm wide tire on their project si which is also pretty slammed.

I bought the tires when I was worried about rubbing with a lowered car (I've got JIC coilovers and the car is pretty freaking slammed), and I realized afterwards that a wider tire wold have fit just fine (I think).

The tires I really wanted were 215/45 Azenis, but I let my little bro talk me into the Parada II, which is ok, and about 3lbs lighter per tire than the Azenis. Does the weight justify the loss in grip? Maybe..

I'll prolly get another set of 16's (rota circuit 8's prolly) and a set of hoosiers for the autox circuit..so maybe it doesn't matter.

    the jic coilovers are NIIICE.

I'm pretty certain that the 225 will fit with the lower offset I got. from what I could tell, we have plenty of room under the outer fender, it's just the inside wheel well we gotta watch out for. King motorsports is running a 225 wide tire on their 17x8" wheel, so it shouldn't pose any problems for me with a stock ride hieght. And i don't plan on an agressive drop either, so I should be okay.

Tirerack said they could garantee fitment for a 215mm wide tire, but said that they couldn't garantee a 225. guess i'll find out soon enough if i made a mistake.

what size wheels are you running? and what offset? remember I've got 16's, and you have to think diameter will affect rubbing, too... not just section width of the tires. Also, wall height makes a difference.

the 215/45/16 tire is nearly identical in overall diameter to stock, while the 205/45 is abou 3/4 of an inch smaller overall diameter. That'll affect rubbing or not, too. Looking at my fenders, i think a 215/45 will fit.. 225/45 is a stretch, but it depends on the wheel.. are you running 15's? that's different, no?

and you think 3lbs a tire (azenis 215/45 vs parada 205/45) makes a difference overall? 3lbs is a LOT.. can you justify that with "more width" and increased grip? probably, but maybe not

Overall diameter & width is what matters, the diameter of whe wheel doesn't matter much, nor the width of the wheel - the tires are almost always wider. So changing the rim diameter doesn't matter unless you are also changing the overall wheel/tire diameter. Stock wheel/tire is 24" in diameter. 225/50/15 is 23.9" in diameter, so I should be okay, as long as the width is okay.

As for the 3lb extra, the grip of the azenis over the prada spec II is totally worth it IMO. You have to remember that part of that weight goes into sidewall stiffness which is very important.

    +42 or +45

So what is the actual offset for our stock rims? +42 or +45?

If you look on the back side of the stock rims there is a "45" molded into the casting...this denotes the factory offset.

    yep. it says 15x6j 45

so i guess by going to +37 offset, I gained .6" in track front & rear. :)
