    what engine should i swap in my ep2?

    i currently have a d16 in my ep2 and it lacks performance for sht :D. my goal is to reach the 400whp one day.

    now at first i was going to swap a k24, but the problem is that in malta license for engines 2000cc+ is almost double the price of 1800cc - 2000cc.

    so basically im left with 2 options turbo a k20a or turbo a k20a2. my friend told me that the k20a isin't really good for boost, is this true? is it worth the trouble swapping a k20a2 in my ep2 when i can buy a european ep3 with a k20a2 in it from the factory? or should i just sell my ep2 and get the k20a2 ep3 and turbo it?

    any suggestion on what route should i take??

    The k20a is usually too expensive to justify not buying an a2 and using the extra funds to mod it. As talon once said, "give me the money to buy a K20A and I'll purchase and modify an A2 that will run circles around your JDM engine." I'm a fan of N/A, and turbo is going to pair better with a lower compression engine, but you could meet your 400 goal with a turbo'd A2, if that's what you wanna do.

    Cliffs: if it's a 2.0, just get an A2. If you really wanna boost it, go for it. Don't waste the money on an A just to boost it and be disappointed.

    I would definetily go with a k20a2 whether that be a rsx-s, ep2 with k20a2 swap or ep3 with k20a2 swap(my personal fav). plus in the ep3 the swap along with the transmission is pretty straightforward. pull up and out, drop in new engine and trans, plug n play. If you have the option of getting a SiR for a reasonable price, i would sedriously consider that route so you wouldnt have to go throught the hassle of a swap and downtime if any. just my opinion. its whatever you wanna do man

    last question what would you suggest is the best engine between a k20a2 , k20z1 or k20z3

    i want alot of low to mid range power , high end isin't really a problem since we have short streets in malta

    The K20A2 will be easiest to swap because of several things:

    Throttle bodies (Z3 DBW vs. A2/Z1 cable), intake manifold no clearing radiator core support (Z3), and the Z1/3 has a different speedometer sensor than the A2.
    Also, since you said your goals are eventually 400+, I recommend a K20A2 because they are a lot easier to make compatible with Kpro if you get the swap with an ECU. Type R's and Z1/3 you need to convert the ECU harnesses (more $$$) and Type R's use a narrowband O2 sensor, K20A2's use wideband. If you can find an A2 swap with the engine harness, transmission, and ECU, you wouldn't need much more than that to get it swapped into your EP.

    completely OT. i didn't know there was a ep2, or ep1. wow! the headlights off a ep2 look like a Fit too.
