    18" opinions...

Hey guys, I searched the forums and can't find anything about 18" wheels. I'm pretty new to all this, are 18" just that bad? I think they fill the wheel well better.

I'm running 225/40/18 on some rims I got for cheap, I think the offset is 40. I know they make the car slower, but its basically stock already so just for looks. I want to lower it ~1.5 inches.

I guess my question is: Are there any practical 18" tire setups? Like what have other people used to get a clean look? Mine looks monster truck.

I use this as a daily. Sorry for the noobishness.

its all preference. most guys find 16-17 to be perfect for the ep3, but really depends on you. I have seen some people pull off 18s cleanly on ep3s and they were dumped/flush/hellaflush.

I hate them. But it is just personal preference. You're also taking some of the tire out the equation, which is generally going to reduce the ride comfort, especially after you drop it.

To each his own but I don't really understand why people would go bigger diameter. At least the "wider wheel" crowd has a function argument.

I don't care much for ride comfort, if I did I'd get a Cadillac or Buick.

I am in the 16-17" crowd myself. Over the weekend however I stumbled across a small tire shop that deals mainly with used wheels and tires. Well out the corner of my eye I spot something familiar. A full set of Racing Hart Type C Evolutions. 18x7.5 +38 offset dual drilled for 4 and 5 lug, lips have a few scuffs and in desperate need of a polish but otherwise round and true. Selling for $300.
I am so tempted to pick them up, but just blew through a wad of cash on the car recently. Cant justify the expense. But if I can line up some weekend work...

17s are as big as i like. the only way 18s look good is if its a closed face type wheel (like VSXX and similar).

open spoke 18s make the stock brakes look tiny and there's too much dead space behind the wheel. even my open face evo VIII wheels make the stock brakes look super lame hahaha

Just so you know the 215/40/R18 are going to run 1/2" taller than stock. It's also going to cause for your trans to run harder to push those heavy wheels and make your brakes look like peanuts. Just run a 215/45/R17. It would sit better with the ep3 IMO

They're actually 225/40/R18 so that probably makes it worse. The start off the line is noticeably slower and it's probably eating the shit out of my clutch. Dammit. I thought I noticed it a little higher after I put them on too. Looks like I'll be on the hunt for some 17s soon.
