How do you all shift it into 5th?

I would like to compare my shifting style with everyone else's here. Specifically, how does everyone here shift it into 5th gear?

Going from 4th, I first put it into neutral, then move the stick right, and up. There are three moves, up, right, and up.

This is distinctly different from going from 2nd to 3rd, which is one diagonal movement.

Does everyone else use this three move action going from 4th to 5th, or do you use one diagonal movement?

I usually just push in a diagonal motion and it will go into 5th. If I push it over to the right and then up, it will scrape or grind nearly every time. However, when I shift very quickly, it goes smooth.

I pretty much use the same motion I use when going from 2nd to 3rd.

Well, five responses and five different answers. Isn't there a concensus?

Which is it, up, right, and up, or diagonal?

well, i used to do up right up but i'm reading a book on high performance driving, and they tell you to shift in a smooth diagonal. That way there's less lag between gears and less chance of a mistake because you're doing one continuous move instead of 2 moves.

    I do this:

In fourth, go clutch-up-left-release-let out clutch-put in clutch-up to third-down-right-up to fifth-release clutch-slam on gas and wish my car went faster.

Try it, I'm sure you'll like it.
