    Ctr Boot ???

i just got my ctr boot. i can't for the life of me figure out how to get it to look right. without the washer, it hangs way too low. with the washer and the nut on, it barely leaves any room for me to screw on the knob. my last resort is to use tape i guess so i can choose a height to set the boot at.

can ya show me like where on my diagram abouts you put ur rubber band? thanks.. rubberband sounds good, or elec tape.. but im just wondering how those people who used washers did it.. cuz with the washer up to that tapered point, then the chrome clip, then the nut, it goes way too high, and leaves barely any room to screw the knob on.

Yeah, lots of people have put the rubber band on the inside at the top and folded down the excess material and slid the rubber band under it...... I hope thats not to confusing..... thanks...... your pal, dave ;)

I helped LHD_EP3 put his on. We basically used this round rubber piece, basically rubber band will do.
Just take one, wrap it around the shifter till it tight on there. Put it below where you are currently putting the washer...put it at about 1/2" below where you are putting the washer...on the fatest part of the shifter

i guess i got lucky. the ebay aluminum shifter i bought went all the way to the bottom and ended up almost perfect. i didnt use the nut or anything.

for the boot part "william" made me a jdm clip and it just goes right on there.

I used wire tape and tappered it from top to bottom starting just before the threads end, took the ebay JDM look alike knob I bought and screwed it down, tightening the boot on the tape. heres a pic of how it looks...

I'd have to agree about having the clip all the way up to the knob. Doesn't look too good, not to mention up close it doesn't seem to fit in. If anyone cares to notice, there is a gap between the boot and knob on the JDM/UKDM CTR.

What I did was found a rubber hose in the garage, roughly the size of the smaller hose on the upper intake arm. I cut a small piece off (~1/2") and pushed it down the shifter. In fact if you have an aftermarket intake you could just snip a piece of the hose off and use it to hold up the boot...would save you from having to buy the hose at Home Depot.

Just thought I would throw that idea out there... :)

I'm not using anything to keep mine up, but it's all the way up to the knob, as if the accordion folds were behaving like a spring and pushing it up.

I can push it down the shifter rod, of course. But, it'll also be really difficult to tear the rubber this way, since it'll just slide down rather than get damaged if someone pushes on it accidentally.
