hmm... interesting to read how filters vary in quality... i always thought that an oil filter was jus a damn oil filter... gonna change it out in a few thousand miles anyways, but i guess i was wrong... fram does suck in quality compared to other brands.
this link below opens up filters from different names, but are for bikes... but i'm assuming construction of oil filters from each manufacturer for cars and bikes are the same...

    Talking

    Redline Synthetic Oil, Wix Filter....
    :D
i did a comparsion with valvoline full synthetic, it was almost driving with lower octane gas..in a way...it was till smooth when i accelerated and braked..but the feeling tends to stick there more with the redline,
i wanna compare the mobil 1, and 0-20w oil, is it benefitcial to run such a thin oil when the recommended oil is already high is viscosity?

heres some info on the mobile1 0w20 (link)

hers a link with lots of good info on motor oil itself the engine oil bible

i have always thought 0w20 was fine to drive with, but in the section called flushing oils, he writes this:

These are special compound oils that are very, very thin. They almost have the consistency of tap water when cold as well as hot. Typically they are 0W/20 oils. Don't ever drive with these oils in the engine - it won't last. Their purpose is for cleaning out all the gunk which builds up inside an engine. Note that Mobil1 0W40 is okay, because the '40' denotes that it's actually thick enough at temperature to work. 0W20 just doesn't get that viscous!

But honda specifys 5W-20 as the oil to use, so the 20 part is fine for summer driving. 0W-20 will probably be better in the winter, as it may not thicken as much in the cold, and make the start ups easier.

I thought that the HAMP filters were more restrictive than the stock Honda filters which is why you get an increase in oil pressure when using one. That's what I've been reading on other boards, at least...

really?... I read a description that the small HAMP filters increased pressure because they were small

Well, for my oil change today, I went to a different Honda dealer, and I happened to get an A01 with a Filtech stamp on it :shadesm:. I'm running Mobil 1 0w-20 now. The engine feels a lot smoother; it certainly revs faster. I also noticed that it's quite a bit louder than the old Quaker State 5w-20.

I use a Wix filter and Amsoil Signature Series 0w-30. I have used K&N oil filters but I have heard there filtration is sacrificed to improve oil flow.
