i didn't take your post as mean/aggressive, so dont worry. we're all e-friends.

the average person who is looking for some fun in the twisties isn't going to need the adjustment.

from what i've read from other members (non auto-x'ing/competition) many adjust it after the initial install, then forget about it.

i wouldnt necessarily steer people away from adjustable (height or damping), but is it really worth paying the extra money for a feature that you'll never use? there are plenty of quality options in the 5-600 range. for racing/track, sure adjustability is great. DD/fun, not really necessary.

sounds like the OP is on somewhat of a budget, so he can use that extra $$$ for other parts.

along those lines... I'll take a non-adjustable Bilstine damper LONG before I'll run any of the inexpensive "coilovers" on the market.

Would Bilstein shocks be ok for a DD? I want something that will improve the handling characteristics of the car and last a while. I don't really care much about ride quality. I can live with a harsh ride. I don't care that they are not adjustable, I wouldn't adjust it anyways.

Are these the right ones for our car? Kinda pricey at $1136 + tax/shipping for all four. If I get the Bilsteins I will use the springs I currently have on the car, which are Tanabe GF210 springs (spring rates are: 3.0 kg/mm front, 5.7 kg/mm rear; drop is 1.3in front, 1.5in rear). I was thinking about getting these vs. the Progress Coilovers. Any input would be awesome.

ok excellent, yah i see what youre saying and i totally agree...most people wont adjust their shocks like some of us infinite tinkerers will...i spent 6months tweaking the konis and in the end discovered that without the stiff front bar i needed to back off the fronts drasticly

(i was trying to compensate for the excessive roll by stiffening thinking hey i can load it quicker, but it turn it wasnt loading the suspension to get the geometry to work...you know rebound only adjustment...so in the corner the shock would be working itself up and down and the car wouldnt take a set...backed it off, geometry settled down and let me take a set, rolled more but the car was happier and didnt understeer as much, more neutral)

in any case...heh...ill prolly play with the konis more when i get a chance now that i have stiffer bars front and back...

most people wont go through any of that ^^^^haha

i wouldnt screw around, bilsteins are amazing if they work for what you want to do, once again i dont know if you can lower your car on the ep bilsteins, but for a daily driver, id almost give up the lowering to run bilsteins...i had them on my 86si before i put the konis and jackson racing springs on it, and they were just amazing, only thing was due to internal bumpstops on the bilsteins, if i had lowered it with them, when i pushed it hard into a corner the fronts would have hit the bumpstops and the geometry would have gone to infinity and i would have just plowed in the middle of the corner and gone off...not good...
    my ep is white...

Ok, blues are stock replacemet, thats it. You want the same crappy damping as stock, then blues are for you.

If you page back on this thread I said a koni/d-spec suspension kit( dampers + matched springs)( 800) ,a 05-06 type-s rear sway with the bushings (80) and front camber bolts(25).....thats under 1000............

Show me a shock dyno with a compairson of stock to blue to prove that.....I spoke to a tokiko regonial rep that told me the that they were stock replacements and that if I was interested in "sportie" driving I should go with the d-specs.

Thanks for the link. I didn't know tirerack.com sold suspension components. $718 is definitely not a bad price. Can these be used in combination with any spring? A few posts up someone mentioned them not being compatable with lowering springs because of an internal bumpstop or something.

I did the initial search using 2002 as the year for my EP and the only thing that turned up were the Koni shocks. I changed it to 2004 and the Bilsteins came up...weird
