Hey fellow ephatchers,

A friend of mine recently developed shift lever springs (MTEC Ind.) for K-series manual transmissions and asked that I share my experience with them.

I’ve always felt that the shifter had too much play in its lateral movement. With the MTEC springs installed, there is a significant difference in feel from the stock springs. The springs have a higher spring rate and provide more resistance in the shifter’s lateral movement. Compared to the stock springs, shifts are firm and direct.

Installation of the springs was simple. Total time of install was roughly 30 minutes with common garage tools.

Overall, the MTEC springs provide better response and feel in gear shifts for daily or spirited driving.
