    a3 just went boom....

What motor would be best with using the supercharge setup
    I have found a k20a2 and also k20z1.

I was think of doing a k24a2 but i cannot seem to find one that doesn't come with the tranny from the tsx.. I was told the tranny would not fit into the ep3

Any Input or advice would be greatly appreciated
    thanks

I think you are definitely better served if you get the k24a2, the transmissions from our car, rsx, rsx-s, fa/g all will bolts up to it. But if you decide not to, either of the k20a2 and k20z1 will be an amazing upgrade over the one that just went boom.

edit: what caused the failure btw? if you dont mind me asking.

The original trans is a great matchup with the K24.

Your best bet between the K20A2 w/6spd and K20Z1 w/6spd is hands down the K20A2. The stock Z1 ECU will not work in the EP3, you will need to get a 02'-04' typeS ECU, and you will need a VSS adaptor.

Kpro is required for the K24A2

I have had my redline set at 10,000rpm many times, I went back to the shop after Installing my methanol injection kit and 90 miles later, well..... by the looks of the damage i believe the timing chain slipped which i heard was a common problem with the k20 motor in general.

I hit 276HP with the meth-injec on the JRSC 4" pulley

How do you like your swap so far? Im looking for a k24a2 just can't find any right now.

my tensioner went also, should have gotten the skunk2 or hybrid tensioner but shit happens

the k24a2 is 100% different than the a3, so much more power and torque...it will probably feel the same if not better than your supercharged a3, i made 235hp and 191tq with just bolt ons

call a shitload of junkyards, in the 10 i called only 2 had them and one had a k24 from an 05 tsx with only 40k on it, $1800 shipped to my door with a 30 day warranty

The K-series does not have an inherent issue with the timing chain. They did upgrade the upper chain guide, this will prevent 99% of the timing jumps, At 10K the stock timing chain flails around, and bends and stretchs considerably. If you didnt install the new heavy duty chain I am not surprised at all.

dude what did you do to the A3 to get it to rev safely to 10k like that? the money you spent on that could have well paid for a papered 06-07 k24a2 and you would have made more power reliably. if you do the 6.27" crank pulley (see my thread, i just installed this) and the 3.8" blower pulley with the right bolt on's (and a Z1 or a type-r intake cam in the k24a2, the stock intake cam is inferior compared to it's LARGE exhaust cam profile) and meth, is a 320+whp setup reliably. if i was in your postition i'd be doing that. once my A3 goes, thats what i am doing, those motors are near bulletproof, well over the max of our jrsc's
