I'm looking for second opinions from EPhatchers regarding a clicking noise from my a/c. I've pretty much assumed it was the compressor going since the beginning and asked some of my friends who work for dealers as technicians, and they've all agreed.

Basically:
0. My compressor has always turned on for roughly ~10-15 seconds at a time, I always thought it was weird/slightly annoying- but the temps were always real cold so I didn't look into it. This has been the case the entire time I've owned the car, it's an 03 purchased in 07 - from 30k to 85k.
1. Previously, and while moving home (600 mile drive) my ac blew COLD. I would have to turn the fan speed to the lowest setting and the temp to medium just to keep a comfortable temperature without getting chills.
2. Once back in Houston, I started driving 80miles round trip on the highways (something I never did on a daily basis while away at school). I noticed that my ac had gotten less and less effective over the past 2 weeks and was barely "cool" now on full blast and temp to lowest.
3. Yesterday while entering the freeway (with A/C on) I floored it to the top of 3rd to merge and then shifted to 5th to cruise. The A/C started blowing HOT hot and so I turned off the A/C and drove about 5 miles with it off before turning it back on.
4. It was back to blowing "cool" but then I noticed it was making a faint clicking noise that would come and go while the compressor clutch was engaged.
5. Today it still blew "cool" but the clicking was much louder and thus pretty annoying.

Symptoms:
Clicking only while compressor is on / clutch is engaged.
Clicks are in sync with RPM speed


I've got money for a new compressor if I need it, but I don't have any a/c tooling for discharging/recharging the refrigerant.

Question about the half nose mask from handa-accessories.com: Can I get rid of the ones extending on the side panels? I've seen a lot of em but I'm not sure if they bought it like that or they had to cut it or it comes in two pieces.

I'm not sure if they come with the side pieces, as I've never bought a new one, but if they do, the side pieces don't have to be installed. They're definitely separate pieces.

Yea, it's 3 different pieces. I just put on the hood part and I don't know what happened to the fender parts. IMO, those look weird.

Another question. So I filled up my tank , it was about 3 bars away from a full tank. I drove to school and back which was 65miles and I ended up with half a tank. No traffic at all on the freeway. Shifted always around 2.5krpms. Does this seem right? Or did my gas go down too fast? Any know what the problem could be
