your best bet is to block it out and respray the clear on the entire wing, stay away from the spray can crap.
I just got a carbon fiber mugen wing used and it is in good ond. except for a couple spots. I was told that i can recoat the wing with a clear coat and it would help cover up the oxidation. Does anyone have any suggestions on what i could do. Itried plastx and it helped a lil but i wanna fix the whole wing????

mines getting all smokey too it sucks
My problem is with the hood, some clear coat bubbling, and a couple serious run spots from previous owner re clearing. should I block or is it ok to user a belt sander/orbital, w.e I have in the garage.?
Unless you have a D/A air sander I would block it and go forth by hand.
take out the drips with 600 and 800.
prep the rest with 800 or 1000.
Then you'll be ready for a shop to just shoot clear
Clean with soap and water and then with a tack rag.
Hey Guys,
SSR will be soon releasing a revolutionary new product to revive your worn carbon fiber parts. If your part is getting dull or getting that white oxidation on it, our product can help. Its a 2 stage process, but very easy, fast and economical to use and do. No need to sand or respray. Of course it won't look like perfect or brand new but it will be much much better. The more time you put into it the better it will look.
Here are some prelim pics. (Took about 5 mins to have it shine like this)

How long does it last? Wax's and polishes give it the same effect and will only last a couple of months.

any idea on when this product will be out? my caarbon fiber wings west spoiler is looking pretty rough
Sounds just like what I did, which is a headlight restoration kit. Not really a new concept. I used the Meguiars one. It was $20 at Walmart. Worked great.

Here is my writeup from another site I'm on:
So last night, I decided that it was time to do some work on the carbon fiber wing on my civic. The gel coat on it has been pretty badly oxidized for a while.
Day 1:
Here are some before shots (Sorry for the shitty iphone pics, I was too lazy to mess with the real camera). I took the wing off the car to get a better handle on it while I was working on it, and obviously it needs to be cleaned up a bit underneath.
The underside of the wing looks brand new still since it hasn't seen any sun. My eventual goal was to get it all looking like this.
I picked up a Mothers PowerBall 4Lights Headlight Restoration Kit and I was off.
After a little work on the side:
Comparison of the side (done) next to the top (not started yet)
Results After Day 1:
So, as you can see from the pictures, there is still some oxidation in spots, but it is starting to look a lot better than it did.
I'm going to go at it again tonight and hopefully get it cleaned up some more. I may try the "severe damage" packet that was included in the box which looks to be varying degrees of fine sandpaper.
I will post some more pictures of the progress with an actual camera tonight.
Update, Day 2:
Worked on the wing some more tonight. I did a second pass on the whole thing, and it looks pretty good. I would say about 90% of the oxidation is gone, but you still see some at certain angles. I think the only way it's going to get better than this is if it's re-gelcoated, or at the very least sanded pretty good. Overall, I'm happy with how it turned out.
On to the pics.
right on! good info will start restoration tonight and let ya know how it goes
i say take to a body shop and have it sanded and cleared like i did then u dont have to worry about the oxidation on the gel coat
after
keep it waxed like the rest of the car and its not gonna do that again

Of course that's the better option, but how much did it cost you? I'm sure it wasn't $20.
i left the spoiler at there shop and they did it while working on another car they only charged me 50 bucks they had it almost 2 weeks but it was worth it to me
