U really have nothing to worry about with a Cai. Ur filter getting wet is no problem. The only way u can see engine failure is if it gets submerged in water while its sucking air. I've always had cai and in storms and snow never a problem
I run a aem cai on all my rides and never had a problem. Just remember to pickup the bypass valve or shield. Sounds much better once you snap the throttle.

I've run a Fujita SRI for years and it's been great but I'm about to swap back to a stock box with the Hondata mod (hollowed out). It fills the space better and I will be able to reduce heat soak by using heat reflecting tape on the bottom of the box.
I don;t run a CAI because of the hydrolock risk, just my opinion.
Maybe check for a manufacturer that uses a heat shield with their SRI. Mishimoto makes on for my 08, and its wicked, intake temps are around 5 more degrees than ambient.
